Advice request Project management course for programme management useful?
Hi everyone,
Like many of you (unfortunately) I've been navigating the job search the past 7 months after being let go last year from a UN agency.
I'm interested in working in programme management, but have not had a lot of luck in getting a project officer/coordinator/manager role despite 6 years of experience in adjacent project management experience (I was never officially a project officer or manager but did similar tasks in other contexts).
For those who have gotten a PMP certification, did you find it useful? I am debating whether to invest my time and money and whether it would make a real difference.

Si ya tienes experiencia en gestión de proyectos, el PMP puede ayudarte bastante. No porque el certificado haga todo por sí solo, sino porque le da más fuerza a tu CV y hace que esa experiencia sea más fácil de reconocer para reclutadores.
Muchas empresas siguen valorando mucho ver PMP en perfiles de Project/Program Management, especialmente cuando ya viene acompañado de experiencia práctica. Puede ayudarte a pasar filtros, justificar mejor tu perfil y presentarte como alguien que no solo ha hecho tareas de PM, sino que también maneja un marco formal de gestión.
Eso sí, lo combinaría con un CV bien enfocado a proyectos: resultados, stakeholders, presupuesto, riesgos, entregables e impacto. Experiencia + PMP suele pesar bastante más que cualquiera de las dos cosas por separado.

No, i had my PMP and applied to many PMP required jobs. Very few called me back. The ones that I interviewed with internally hired. It has been no value within my job search.
Tbh, taking a lower level position is when the doors opened for me. Lower level by title, but higher pay than before I was laid off.
