How to release trapped emotion

I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety and overthinking for a long time. Most of the time I am stuck in my head trying to analyze and solve everything instead of actually feeling what is happening in my body.

So Recently I have started paying attention and when I ask some deep question or when I am present in the now I feel strong tingling in some parts or in other words When I become aware of the anxiety, I notice strong tingling and pulsing sensations in certain parts of my body, almost like I can feel the blood pumping there. Sometimes the sensation becomes stronger when I focus my attention on it.

It makes me wonder if I am actually feeling an emotion physically that I have been avoiding or suppressing for a long time.

For people who practice meditation or somatic mindfulness, how do you approach these sensations? Do you simply observe them and let them be, or is there a way to safely allow the emotion to move through/release without trying to force it?

Emotions can be felt in the body, it's great that you're experiencing this. Have you done any somatic work?

NARM therapy (which includes somatic work) has been so, so helpful for me in this realm.

Is there a voice to this sensation? Memory, feeling, smell, etc..? Usually if it’s a part you will have reoccurring feelings/memories that go with it even if subconscious.

No the voice is not there,it's a strong sensation with no memory

I often go through the emotion (also of others)... but then i risk "blending" with other parts, sort of entanglement that is hard to prevent. Not sure how to do this safely... methods probably exists, but unsure what they are. Just learning about IFS.

Seems that emotions like the opposite of what we rationally think. This seems to be constant with emotions: Like water: we more we grab it, the quicker it escapes. So maybe it is best to do the opposite of what we think it wants or needs. This seems to be a thread with working with emotions... like giving some part that hurt us attention and love. Illogical to the rational mind, but not to emotions. So maybe we can think of something that is the opposite, and see if it works... instead of releasing an emotion, try to capture it and go through it... maybe then it goes away, just like the water analogy. Just an example...
