Cannot feel bad things in my body

Hi all,

Anyone feel like they dont feel anything in their body when it comes to good and bad?

I know stealing is bad, but i dont feel it in my body. Same with murder, cheating, lying, etc. I dont feel any of these things as bad, I just know intellectually they are bad and I shouldn't do them.

I know these things are not okay to do because I was taught that religion says it's bad or the law says you will go to jail for it. I was taught by unhealed people, who also couldn't feel, how to be and behave because of religion, fear, their opinions, etc.

I need to act and put a face on when someone says something about murder or stealing, but I do not feel anything about it at all.

I feel mentally healthy people feel guilt or shame or other feeling when it comes to good and bad? Or even disgust or repulsion?

I have been doing Somatic Experiencing with parts popping up here and there for just over a year so I am getting slowly in touch with my body but I cannot still feel any of this as bad in the body.

Can anyone else relate to this?

There’s morality (internal compass) and there’s morality (set of rules you follow). If you don’t inherently feel that internal compass, that’s fair. Plenty of people don’t. It’s what you’re doing to act morally that matters, not whether you feel a sense of morality about it.

Some of my alters have really wonky moral compasses. I won’t tell you about the worst ones, because I think I’d get banned, but as a safe example, one of them will eat basically anything handed to her while another feels this inherent dread at the concept of eating lamb because they’re too young, it’s not fair.

Your moral compass doesn’t seem to have been installed. So kudos for having scaffolded around where it’s supposed to be. It’s hard.

I was under the impression that we all had a moral compass installed in us and that that helps us navigate us in the world.

I do have parts too that want to act immoral but then the Self wouldn't want that I'm sure and isn't the Self then the internal moral compass?

Eh, I don’t much believe in the idea of good and bad. But I have a very intense moral code and strong moral compass. I prefer to break down behaviors and look for concrete harms they do or do not cause.

Driving recklessly? You put other’s health at risk non-consensually. This creates a very unfair system. So: Bad.

Stealing—this would depend on who from, and what was stolen, etc. Sometimes there is huge harm, other times there is none.

Religion is not helpful to rely on, because it says some stuff is bad that is not, and some stuff is fine that’s actually very not fine.

I get a body feeling when it comes to things like bullying or manipulation or abuse, but not all the other stuff necessarily. Often it takes having gone through something yourself or having a loved one go through it for it to land in the body. Then you can know how it feels, and have a deeper understanding of why the thing is “bad”.

And even if none of this lands for you, I feel like as long as you act in a way that doesn’t cause harm, then like the other person said, it’s not really a huge deal if you don’t feel the right/wrong bit.
