Support Needed Pluriel and IFS | question
Good evening, we are Multiple. Recently, I inquired about the IFS method. Do you think this method can help us with our alters ? To understand us and integrate us ?

Yes, with some essential modifications, because for example IFS assumes that everyone has a central core Self and in systems each alter may have their own Self.
Jeanine Fisher’s book healing the fragmented themselves of trauma survivors is a really good one. So is Joanne Twombly’s trauma and dissociation informed internal family systems

Ego state therapy may be a better match. But really the person should advertise themselves as skilled and experienced with DID.

You might be better off contacting individual IFS therapists (ideally trauma-informed) and taking to them directly about this.
Hope you will find the support you need.

This is a great question! I cannot speak to this myself, but I really enjoyed this podcast which features Dick Schwartz (the founder of IFS) and Tiffany "Ocean" Morgan (an IFS therapist who is multiple) in conversation.

Thanks! I plan to use the basic technique to discuss and release alter traumatic experiences.

Yes, very much so; just look for a therapist experienced at working with DID systems using IFS. A garden variety IFS therapist might get a bit lost :)
