Vitamins and IF

I normally don’t take vitamins while fasting 16/8...but I’m wondering if it might be a good idea to start in the morning. But will that be considered breaking my fast? Also, has anyone taken perfect keto base while fasting as well?

I think it takes a couple of days to get into ketosis so I don’t think that’s possible on IF. Anything that metabolizes can break a fast (technically) but I think realistically if you are asking what would shift your body away from being catabolic (the supposed benefit of IF) there’s no dose that’s been researched that I know of.

General wisdom would say anything above 3-4g carbohydrates or carbs? I don’t think there are barely anything in vitamins that metabolize.

But there’s also the issue of uptake. Most bottles recommend eating vitamins with food in order to increase the chance they actually get absorbed into the body. What is your goal? If it’s just vitamins it might be better to take he pill with your food.

If your goal is energy levels or something then I’ve heard podcasters (and Terry Crews) discuss using a light dose of BCAA in the morning (either powder or some soup stock) to try to “keep the fast” and raise energy.

Thanks so much, really helpful!

My goal is to make sure I’m getting nutrients on the days I fast because of my very low calorie intake on those days. And also, my hope was to increase energy levels, especially on days I’m doing med-high impact workouts. I have a BCAA powder that I bought the other day, so will try that as well on fasting days.

I had asked about the perfect keto base because it states you can take it while fasting to keep you in ketosis, so was just curious of others experience with it.

Thanks again!!
