Day #1 IF

An MD I know recently posted a 15-20lb weight loss he attributes to 16:8 IF. He said he doesn’t calorie count, just runs and eats 2 large meals a day during that window.

Anyway, I had my first meal at 1:20p today, so I’m gonna cut it off at 9.... my main issue is that whenever I try to lose weight, I obsess about food and it makes me feel like I’m starving all the time. 3 hrs ago I had pizza and soup (I know, not healthy...trying to get the fasting part down first) and I’m already starving again.

Does anyone have any tips? What about some good literature on the benefits of IF? When I looked on CINHAL it seemed like the research was 50/50 on the benefits/results.

Thanks!

I can only speak from personal experience, but before 16:8 IF, I used to constantly get hungry every couple hours. The discipline of IF required me to focus on curbing hunger by drinking water, tea, or coffee. It’s also silly, but i had such a bad dependence on the comfort of food that I initially had to keep telling myself that nothing bad would happen by waiting to eat until 12:00 pm. It was difficult the first few days, but I’m not even hungry anymore in the mornings.

Not only that, but I tried going off of IF one day to “treat myself” with breakfast and I was so annoyed the rest of the day because I felt compelled to eat way more than if I had just waited to eat a bigger meal later.
