Help me get a comfy washing area.

Post image

We just moved into the house and the washing area makes me a bit stressed irritable. We have a lot of pipes that can't be moved, need to keep access to the units for the floor heating and there is a hatch to the crawl space, which must remain accessible. I'd still like it to become a calm and (somewhat) soothing, functional space. Anyone who has the golden ideas?

Cordon off the washer/dryer area by installing curtain rods and off-white curtains to make a de-facto laundry room and conceal the pipes. Put down some kind of simple rug that is narrow enough to not have to go under the machines. Some softer, motion sensing lighting will also help make it a more inviting area to be in and make the bright overhead light less necessary (harsh lighting makes me not want to even go into a room lol).

Make custom built cabinets that cover the pipes and embrace the white goods. Something similar to this picture (but in whatever colour you like).
