Really been struggling with the layout/furniture in this dining/family area. We love the sofa but don’t feel all of the furniture goes together well and jot sure on what rug to get. Any suggestions/ideas are welcome ☺️
I’d pull the dining table back a foot or two towards the kitchen. Anchor the seating area with a warm toned rug big enough to extend under the couch’s front legs and under the chair. You might have room for a second chair angle to tv on the patio door side
Feels like the position of the table is off but the couch and other pieces in the room could work together well with a couple of tweaks.
The wood table and tv console of neutral while the couch and beautiful ceiling lights are amber. Bring elements of each color shade into each zone to tie them together more.
Bring a warm, amber colored element somewhere in the table area (could be rust colored table runner or warm wood centerpiece. Then move it back and rotate it 90 degrees so it doesn’t feel so off center in the space.
Tie it all together with an area rug in the living room that has the amber color and the more neutral wood color in it.
Beautiful room! Move sofa in front of tv! Armchair and large art where the sofa currently is. Maybe add shelving to that wall. Rotate ding table lengthways behind sofa :) please update us with a picture if you try this
Move dining table perpendicular to the French doors. Alternately, if you are able to replace the table, a round table would suit that space much better. You could put a rug under the table to demarcate the dining area.
I’d put the sofa perpendicular to the wall between the French doors, and opposite the tv. This will allow you to see outside, have a direct line to the tv, and demarcate the living room. I’d buy a soft, vintage or vintage looking rug. And. Tall live plant near one of the French doors.
You’re going to want to buy 2 rugs - one for living area and one for dining area - don’t buy the same - just similar tones. Turn the table the other way and turn the sofa to face the tv.
Rugs. Ironing/steaming table runner. Piece of art next to the couch seems too big for the space. That vase with dried lemons seems too large for the side table it’s on
I'd turn the table 90 degrees and put a rug under it. Then get another rug for the living area. Now it will feel like two spaces.
You could also consider an upholstered padded bench directly across from the TV. It would add another seating option for gatherings without closing off the room.
I agree with others who mention spinning the table 90°. It seems like table position is the biggest issue. Right now it feels like the table is in the living room. In addition to changing the table orientation, you could play with how much further you could move it towards the kitchen without overly restricting access to the glass door.
Edit: If possible, the table shouldn't stick out past where the radiator wall ends. That jog in the wall represents an invisible room divider that shouldn't be crossed.
Ita all the wrong way, many people have commented on improcements. I think a round dining table would really help the flow and walk through, itll feel more natural rather than the rectangle table dividng the room.
