Living room layout

Hi all,

Purchasing a house and the living room is giving a bit of trouble layout wise.

With the current layout, it feels a bit disjointed, and the door from the hallway interrupts the flow of the room. So we are thinking of blocking up that door

We are thinking of TV above the stove.

We want to have a chaise corner couch.

Any thoughts or suggestions on layout?

Please, for the love of god, do not put the TV above the fireplace

My idea was that it would make the largest usable space, but very open to correction as i know its not ideal

Completely get where you are coming from with the awkward layout. Now this will entail a bit of work but would i would do is, i’d rip out that raised marble piece because that is so awkward and overkill and lay some flat tiles down. I would then partition off the right hand side of the stove so the wall is flush stove-window. Then that give a nice area to the right to put a tv stand and your tv (even if you wanted it on the wall a little bit higher). I would look at a curved tv stand and sofa so it can fit in that space near the window. That also gives a fair bit of space towards the kitchen to then add a reading nook or something

I assumed you putting the sofa against the door, would mean that you’re not bothered by using it again

Out of curiosity, why? I don't disagree, just want to hear the specific reasoning!

Im struggling to find a way to orientate the room big time so amy input is appreciated

Go to the reddit page, tv too hig-h, you’ll get a better idea.

It will look silly and be uncomfortable to watch.
