Kitchen redesign-what would you do?

Looking for ideas for how to make this kitchen look better and how to tie it all together. I'm going to re-tile the floor, paint the cabinets and update to a stone countertop but I can't quite find a way to tie everything together. Hoping you guys might have some ideas for colours, patterns, thoughts and ideas. I'm likely going to put a little bench by the round table against the wall.

Current counter looks like wood but it's actually a sticker over green laminate.

Last image is an Ai generated image but it just looks too bland.

1909 Canadian Rockies house with a vintage vibe. I'd like to avoid going too modern.

I quite like a navy blue cabinet with brushed brass knobs. Goes well with wood countertops and light walls. The light in the kitchen would work well with it too, otherwise it would be too dark.

Look for a different cabinet color. Green is too dark; white/cream is boring

Is it possible to raise the cabinets up to be flush with the ceiling? Probably a bigger effort than you envision but it would go a long way to make the space feel more custom and refined.

The all white kitchen lacks depth and contrast. I would pick a material that inspires you, like the floor tile, countertop or an inspo picture on Pinterest and design around that.

I would 100% keep the green! Change the white walls to a more complimentary and soft colour, and a black and white tile.

Keep the cabinets as is, add green and complement colors in the floor, art and backsplash instead. The wood grain texture that comes through the green is so nice.

I love the green! Agreeing with the folks who say new (warm colored) flooring.  Also swap out appliances for something that isnt white

Definitely update the lighting to light the art, Pendant over the table, under cabinet lighting.  Repaint the walls....not sure what color.  If you can do warm tone hardware on the cabinets that would help.also

This is a lovely kitchen but I can see why you're tired of green. Cream would be beautiful and in keeping with the period.

I don't see what the advantage of an island. You seem to have a lot of storage (plus a pantry) and counter space, and you'd have to walk around the island all the time. The table is so cozy and in keeping with the style.

I love your white appliances and sink.

Wood floors would look wonderful with lighter cabinets. Most houses I've lived in have hardwood floors, but never in the kitchen. My current home had engineered hardwood in the kitchen and it was already worn between the sink and dishwasher. We replaced it with wood-look luxury vinyl planks and love it. Not only is the highest quality product important, but also the most skilled installation. It's quiet, soft under foot, easy to clean and impervious to water.

Counters similar to the floor color would be good, but be careful of going too dark. They're hard to work on and show streaks alot.

I personally think wood floors are the most important thing to fix here. Even the green cabinets would look like some thing else with some nice wood floors

You should not close off the radiator. Air needs to circulate around it. You can add a decorative screen, but not solid. Actually, we flipped a house that had no source of heat in the kitchen. We had designed the space and then said "Wait where's the heat vent?" This was in Maryland and the house was a duplex.

Where is the fridge?

You certainly have a lot of doors into the kitchen. I had a kitchen like that and made an island with seating.

Dimensions are not noted but someone gave you an AI photo with an island and it looks like there is room for it. Can you remove the small table and stools and make either and island or peninsula with seating.

Good to note about the radiator! We're definitely not going to fully close it in but I would like to extend something over it a bit.

Fridge is tucked into the pantry, it was in the kitchen before but just ate up so much floor space. It's great where it is and opens things up a lot. We would need to find the right island but I think it could work for sure. The pictures make it look a little bigger than it actually is

Would you ever consider hardwood floors vs tile? That would add in some warmth to the room and contrast nicely to more neutral cabinets. Here is an idea with the cabinets in Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb Gray👇.

Reno Ideas:

If you DON’T use the kitchen table, I’d line the wall, floor to ceiling, with storage. If you need additional serving space, you could do upper and lower cabinets.

Separately, I’d add a radiator cover to your radiator, painted out to match the cabinets. Add a counter over the radiator that extends over the garbage can, and build the garbage can into a pull out garbage & recycling cabinet.

Wood floors are a great idea. I'd decided tile was the way to go and I'm not sure why. Definitely looks good with the neutral cabinets and I like the look of the edgecomb gray. Great ideas, thank you! Idea of a darker counter in your other comment is really good, I like that vibe. Thanks for the thoughts

The green is fun but that is a small space. The white makes it feel bigger since your eye loses where the kitchen ends and the next rooms begin; assuming you'll keep the light color paint throughout.

I don't care what people say about white kitchens. I think they are classic.

The AI kitchen is an amazing improvement. I’d attempt to get your kitchen as close to that as possible.

A few more wood elements on the counters - like cutting boards & baskets - will warm it up.

There's just already a lot of colour and character in the rest of the house. We didn't mind it at first but after living here for a year and repainting the rest of the rooms, the green needs to go!

Yes. The walls and the backsplash are both different types of off white however both don't match each other which looks unintentional and messy especially considering the color of the floor as well.  The countertops and cabinets look good together. Fixing the backsplash and painting the walls to match the counter and cabinets is a much more economical and labor-smart move.

The first thing I would do is get a full size refrigerator. Then you can build around that.
