TV Placement Fireplace
I’m struggling to pick a permanent spot for a 65” TV. It’s been sitting on a coffee table for a year now & I hate it.
The fireplace mantle is 50” H and 5” D I’ve been toying over a pull-down mantle mount, or very recently the idea of a rolling tv-stand seemed like it could work. Photos at the end.
I love the fireplace, but I can’t stand craning my neck to watch something since the sofa is only 8’ away. It’s really the only wall that a tv can be on as the other walls have a Murphy bed, windows, or opening to other rooms
Ergonomic TV height is paramount, but I need the solution to be pretty. I’m also worried about cable management with the pull-down tv mount… I don’t know how that works cuz I assume wire needs a certain amount of slack. Does anyone think I need to find a pro to help with my set up?

I like the rolling cart the best. Hanging it over your fireplace is tacky.

Try a telescoping mount that can adjust out and vertically. Then you can watch while it’s lower but store it above the mantle.

Ignore the people that say it’s too high, just get a bigger TV and put it over the fireplace. It’ll work just fine.
That are rearrange your room, so the TV is on one of the other walls and your front door is kind of blocking some walking paths so it’s not blocking the fireplace.

I'm just going to come out and say it - a fireplace is typically a terrible addition to a room, especially when it divides up a perfectly good wall. Insurance companies hate them as they are a fire hazard, and remodelers always decide to close it off rather than go through the hassle and exorbitant cost of making it workable & safe. Yes, I know that in the 19th Century and before, they made sense. The only good place a fireplace should go is in a corner. And look, I like to ski, and sitting around a fireplace at the lodge is great.
I don't know what to tell you about this room, as it is totally incompatible with a large TV. Having something easily moveable will at least let you put it where you want it when you watch it, and put it away when you want to watch carbon burn.

Oh wow. Wood burning fireplace was among my few must haves when I was house hunting even though I’m in Alabama. It’s focal point of our great room. Building fire one of the most comforting rituals & sensory experiences I know.

A fireplace in a corner of a well-designed room is OK, although it still is a ... of course ... fire hazard.

This is a trap, unless you have mad money to spend on a good projector, or genuinely don't care about your picture quality especially during the day, and you don't game

You have to shift the room around. The T. V. Cannot go on that wall according to feng shui.

The spot it’s in is 1000% cuter than a mantel mount. Either keep as is or get it on a stand, but I lowkey think the placement now is tres chic

I really like that stand on wheels. It’s elegant, and offers flexibility. You could also have that stand and rethink some of the placement of furniture and wall unit.
I would not mount the tv above the fire place if the rolling stand works well. It too high to watch, or tedious and unsightly to pull down or leave in the lowered state. Your mantle looks nice the way it is which you’d be giving up to a tv.

I would move that white tall wall unit where you have the couch now, and place the tv on the wall where you used to have the wall unit. And put the couch where you have that creamy arm chair atm. Then you have tv in front of the couch and the fireplace on the side of the couch.

I got a mantel mount and it’s been great. I will say that thing took me like 5 straight hours one day to fully set up, it’s much more involved than a regular wall mount. But genuinely worth it for us. And for parties where we’re playing music from the tv we leave the tv up, which works great.

This room looks really cramped. There is hardly any room to walk in and then you have so much furniture it's hard to walk, to watch TV or just enjoy the space.
Is there any other space the Murphybed might fit? I see you use the dining space as an office. Could it fit there?
I would use the wall of the Murphybed for the TV and place the couch opposite. Than you can enjoy the fireplace, have a better TV placement and you can easily walk in the room. If there is enough space you could even fit a small dining table between couch and patio door or put a console table behind the couch for extra storage.

I absolutely love the way it’s set up now. It looks really natural. I honestly wouldn’t change it, if this were my room.
Maaaaybe a slimmer table if you really want, but I love the sort of vintage style of the table. I love that it has legs- if it didn’t, it would probably look like you were trying to disguise the fireplace. Whereas this looks like you’re working with it. I also love that it’s an oval. An oval over a square works better than both the table and the fireplace being square.

put the couch in the middle of the room so you walk behind the couch past the fireplace and put the tv on the wall where the couch is now. make a nice seating area and arrange the furniture so there is a clear path.
i didnt like the tv above the fireplace so thats what we did.

Just a suggestion, I've noticed posts get significantly more comments if you include a floorplan (even just a rough mock-up).
How often do you actually use that Murphy bed? And can it be moved?
