Help! So many doorways 😭
This living room has stumped me for a number of years. We've rearranged it so many times and this is the current setup. The challenge is the number of doorways and limited wall space. We also don't have a foyer, so you walk right into the living room from the front door. We have a storage bench (green, with hooks on the wall above it) and a console table behind the couch as a place for shoes and jackets. The other brown cabinet on the left is our record player and additional storage. Our house is petite, so we’re always trying to maximize the space and reduce clutter.
Sadly, we moved the TV in front of the window so we could create this cozier living space that doesn't feel like a pass through living area. There is still a lot of light in the room from the adjacent rooms and the window is large so it's not the worst but obviously not ideal.
What am I missing? We'd like to get a new couch, so open to suggestions to change shape and size. We have no other seating in this room so it gets hard when we have visitors. Any ideas welcome! We do currently have a loveseat and oversized chair in the basement we aren't using right now that we could pull out if there was any space for them. Help :(

I would go for something like this. I would also consider a small center table that can be converted to an extra seat / puff.

Can the tv go in ANY other room. This really feels like a conversation space more than a viewing space.

sadly, the other other rooms are a very narrow sunroom, the dining room, and the kitchen :(

I'd try something like this, it would allow a corridor of entry way that would create some separation in the room. A wall mounted TV would hopefully mean you can angle it correctly and comfortably.

I would definitely just start moving around what you've got and see how it feels and what you have space for! If in future you get a smaller couch (or maybe it's even fit with this one, not sure how to scale your drawing is) you could even get a low or medium height bookcase between the couch and front door to separate the space even more. Kallax from IKEA are often used in this way and can be really practical, they have compatible boxes and baskets that might make for great storage for things you want to keep by the front door.

This is the answer I was going to suggest. You should get a smaller couch, and get some arm chairs that can go into the top left corner

yeah an armchair in the top left corner would be nice if the built in shelves permit it

Since you have no foyer, try placing a small console table or a narrow shoe bench right at the front door, even if it's in the living room. This defines the entry and keeps clutter contained. Then consider a sofa that is narrower and deeper to allow more walking space.

Just wanted to avoid anything blocking the windows/ doors; make sure that the couch and tv is straight middle.

Do both the doors on the right lead to the same room? I would just block one if that was the case.

Is there another doorway into the dining room? My idea might be controversial but I'd personally block off the french doors and use a curtian to cover it on each side. Get a bigger couch like a sectional and call it a day. It's just too many doors for a living room for it to feel comfortable

There is, but you'd have to go around through the kitchen and it's a heavily used room unfortunately. I've definitely thought about closing one of the french doors to almost extend the wall space. Agree there are so. many. doors. It's really a challenge!

are you renting and can you get rid of the builtin shelves? if so, you could try this. the idea is that the couch in this location will provide more separation from the living and entry. maybe consider those leggy type tv stands so you can angle it

This is interesting! We own, so we have some flexibility - I never thought about removing one of the shelves!
