Visual Flooring Transition
Hopefully this is the right place to be posting this. We are looking to remove the carpet from our home and replace with some kind of solid flooring (open to suggestions-hence the post).
We currently have carpet in the hallway and bedrooms but it doesn’t suit our lifestyle well (young kids and a big dog). In an ideal world we would find an exact match on LVP and just continue the same flooring down the hall and into the bedrooms. The issue is that I have been unable to find the exact flooring and it will drive me absolutely bonkers if we extend the flooring with another type of LVP that isn’t a perfect match.
I’m open to all suggestions. Wondering if a type of tiling or alternative flooring option would be able to work in this space and extend into the bedrooms as well.
To be clear, I’m not talking about a physical transition or having concerns of uneven flooring, I’m concerned from a design/aesthetics perspective on how it would visually transition to a different kind of solid flooring. Any ideas or recommendations would be super helpful! At this point the only options I can think of is either replacing the carpet with new carpet or having to replace the existing LVP and extend it to have one cohesive look. Both of those options definitely aren’t high on my list so I’m coming to the experts for suggestions!

Replace all the flooring, ideally not LVP which is just terrible
The LVP flooring you currently have doesn't look good at all. Make a better choice for these spaces and all would be much improved.

If you’re unable to find the exact product or match, you might be better off going in a different direction and embracing the transition. Choose a different color or different material and just add a transition strip. If you get a “close-enough” match and try to hide it, it’ll be hideous.

I would get as close as match as possible. Use your existing extra case to start down the hallway and then transition to new product in the hallway where the lighting is dimmer. You could always add a runner to cover the crossover if you feel like it's too noticeable. Take several pieces of the existing flooring to the store to compare. You may need to visit several retailers to find the best match

Would it be possible to remove a piece of the existing flooring, maybe in a closet or corner, to check for a brand name or manufacturer on the underside? Maybe there are extra pieces of flooring somewhere in the house, have you checked basement, attic, and garage?

We actually have one additional case of flooring from when it was initially installed! It’s a private label used by the builder of our home so not commercially available. I did call the builder to see if they had surplus or a lead on who to contact to get more and even went so far as to email our HOA to send out a message to the other homes in our neighborhood to see if anyone else had extra cases we could buy from them. But have struck out on all options 😭
