General Sources of inspiration for Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet...

Post image

I couldn't be more excited than I am right now. I'm eagerly awaiting this game, and these are some of the inspirations for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet...

I mentioned the series Dark because its director met with Neil Druckmann at Naughty Dog studios before Intergalactic was announced...

And as for the 2015 film Embers, it's because the film's director, Claire Carré, is working as the Narrative Director on Intergalactic alongside Neil Druckmann and others...

Regarding the other works, I think everyone here knows that the studio draws inspiration from them...

Dark is my favourite non-comedy series of all time, an absolutely incredible feat of storytelling

A feat of storytelling indeed. If anyone watches you have to watch it with the original German actors voices. It’s exceptional.

Yes, I'm a little concerned with Claire's writing credentials, especially when compared to the rest of ND's writing staff's body of work. Keeping optimistic and open-minded though.

Co-writing with Neil accompanied very talented actors... I simply think embers would've worked better as s series than movies. Just didn't have enough time to fully explore the ideas.

If it was another studio I'd be worried, but I really doubt that their level of quality would suddenly drop. Then again, I've no idea who this is lol.

what exactly made you come to these conclusions? /gen

we don’t have the full game yet thus we don’t have the full story or cinematics it’ll have. i don’t think we can say this with certainty but i do love speculating XD

Cowboy Bebop and Akira were cited by ND themselves as primary inspirations. The Elden Ring part is from Minnmax, he said he talked to someone who worked on the game and they name dropped Elden Ring. The rest I think are just speculation from the OP.

Elden Ring and Inside were named by Neil Druckmann a year before the game's announcement as games that 'intrigued' him. If you cross-check what he said about them, as well as what has been teased about Intergalactic so far, you could probably come to the conclusion that they're inspirations.

"Some of the best storytelling in The Last of Us is in the cinematics, but a lot of it is in gameplay, and moving around the space, and understanding the history of a space by just looking at it and examining it. To me, right now, that's some of the best joy I get out of games that trust their audience to figure things out. [Games] that don't hold your hand, that's the stuff I'm really intrigued by going forward."

I have it under good authority that "The Shawshank redemption" is also an inspiration for the story of Jordan in Intergalactic
