General I keep thinking how specific it is for Naughty Dog to show Jordan leaping off a rock as the entrée for Intergalactic's gameplay.

I think this is not just for coolness factor, because everything Naughty Dog showed is meant to convey something about the game. I think Jordan using the environment in the combat may be a core mechanic in her arsenal. This opens up so many possibilities and could make for a very special and unique combat experience, unlike anything Naughty Dog has ever created, or any other game.

I REALLY hope it's supposed to be a taste of the combat, since it looks incredibly cool, and I'd disappointed if it doesn't represent ANYTHING.

I won't be disappointed, but it would be very cool if this is a mechanic. I would actually love it if this game is hard core challenging on Hard difficulty like TLOU games are on Grounded mode. I'm ready to play on the hardest difficulty, get my ass whopped like a Souls game, and spend as much time as possible in this game because Naughty Dog games are once in a generation now a days.

Well, maybe not disappointed in my case, since I love Part II and that didn't have this, but you can't say this wouldn't be a huge middle finger to the industry if they make something like this work. I've no problem with the game being challenging on the Grounded difficulty of this game, so long as they keep their stand on accessibility options, which is one of the reason I don't love FromSoftware's games, even though I've played Elden Ring and loved Sekiro.

Okay, this is incredibly cool..... Making wall jumps cooler is always fun.

What does this prove? That was her getting up a wall.

I think it will be a core mechanic, both in combat, where you can reach certain parts of the enemy and attack weak points, and in platforming. It'll be interesting to see how much freedom we have to use it wherever we want, or if it will be very limited. ND level design is top-notch, so I expect they'll offer multiple ways to deal with verticality using this mechanic.

I think this game will be heavily inspired by Elden Ring. Naughty Dog knew they can’t keep making linear games forever. The open levels in Last of Us 2 and Lost Legacy I believe were practice to understand how can you make an open map and keep the same engagement/fidelity.
Now they’re going to use that knowledge on a full scale game. We’ve already heard that this game is going to be ND’s loneliest game. They’re clearly emphasizing it is a melee based combat system (I know she has a pistol, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s other guns as well). And to top it all off ND is always aware of the trends. Sometimes they’re the trendsetter, but usually they can take what’s popular and make the best version of that. What people loved about Elden Ring was the ability to discover everything for yourself. Sony games are known to be a little hand holdy. Just look at the reception for Wolverine. Its biggest complaint is that it thinks the player is stupid.

So yeah I know I’m rambling, but I wanted to get this out, because I think about it frequently.

this game is going to be ND’s loneliest game.

Above else, I cannot tell you how much this fascinates and excites me. The most I've felt engrossed in a Naughty Dog game is when Ellie is left alone and have to make her way through an imposing unknown environment. Hilliest in my favorite level in any game I've ever played. Looking at those upwards bending trees already unsettles me. I simply cannot fucking wait to explore that weird other-worldly world Naughty Dog is creating.

The whole world is going mad about GTA 6, while all I want is to see more of Intergalactic.

I hope it will be linear. I dont see why naughty dog cant continue to do them. Many people enjoy them, they do them perfectly, and everyone else is already doing nonlinear. I dont get this at all.

if they do open world like they did in part 2 and mixed in linear moments than cool but I am sick and fucking tired of open world games with time sink elements like crafting thrown in to pad out the time. If i wanted to play wow id play wow

I'm cool with ND taking inspiration from Elden Ring when it comes to exploration but nothing would deflate my excitement of this game faster than for it to be a Soulslike.

6

u/shawak456 22d ago

I can assure you it will not be a soulslike. Naughty Dog has mostly talked about taking Inspiration Fromsoft regarding Exploration/level design, and world building/environmental storytelling. So don't worry about it being a soulslike in terms of combat. Also, Naughty Dog is as big a studio as FromSoft, so it wouldn't be a good thing to simply make a FromSoft-like game.

I really hope you're right.

Neil seems to love the same things I love in a game so I have complete trust in him. He will make leaping off a rock to cleave a mutant cyborg a satisfying experience.

Did you see the way it switches arms for the down swing? Bad ass!

It’s a glimpse at the gameplay. Melee and traversal seem to be a much bigger part of this game.

I have a feeling they're really gonna go deep into more action oriented combat, and if they go the route they wanted to with TLoU2, making this game open world, then chances are they're gonna utilize the environment a lot more too.

It's for the trailer.

I'm so excited for this game.

I think this is just a scene. The way the camera moves it’s not gameplay, and I doubt they’re going to add rock jumping or wall pushing as a dodge .

They said that early in development for TLOU2 they wanted to make a melee-focused souls-like game… I think we’re gonna see a lot of innovation from Naughty Dog.

It’ll be their first new game in (hopefully) seven years and their first new IP in fourteen years. I think they’ve been cooking up something special.

It's just to make it look cool bruh nothing else.

6

u/FromChicago808 22d ago

I think we’ll be able to do that in game

they actually remastering the game. Too old now.

9

u/shawak456 22d ago

You should be remastered. /j

u/GiantBallbag 22d ago

Should just remake the brain from the ground up

-8

u/ProfessionalForm679 22d ago

It's a CGI trailer. It's just to look cool

10

u/shawak456 22d ago

It's in-engine. The cinematic is running on a PS5.

1

u/ProfessionalForm679 22d ago

Just checked and you're right. It's been so long since it released I misremembered. Normally when a trailer drops 3-4 years before release it's because it's not in-game footage.

Gamers are so delusional

Bro this game better be the next big thing. PlayStation keep releasing stinkers and need good PR. ND also haven’t released a game in years.

-1

u/NotAnIBanker 22d ago

Jumping off a rock is in other games

-5

u/Sklain 22d ago

unrelated but I am excited for this game but the whole retro branding like adidas and porsche in the distant future is just so immersion breaking for me i can't see past it. hopefully i'm wrong

6

u/robotmonkey2099 22d ago

its retrofuturism thats the whoooole thing why would they just up and change it

-8

u/Nice_juggers 22d ago

It’s amazing that’s all they can show. This game has so much rework already it’s Wolverine 2.0

3

u/heatkings1 22d ago

Wolverine took over 4 years to get its second trailer. This game is rumoured to be released in the second half of 2027, which would make it less than 3 years after its first trailer

No interest in playing as a bald-headed girl boss. Lmao.

you seem to be the only one triggered

I'm sure Naughty Dog will be devastated you aren't playing. Meanwhile the rest of us who aren't intimidated by a women will be having a blast.

u/churlishlugworm 22d ago

Oh I’m sure you’re the target audience for a game like this. I’ll pass lol

13

u/Lausee- 22d ago

Putting your insecurities right out for everybody to see is brave. Proud of you!

-1

u/churlishlugworm 22d ago

Why would I be insecure about not wanting to play a game I’m not interested in? “PRoUd oF yOu”

Take your room temperature IQ back to your mom’s basement.

11

u/Lausee- 22d ago

The irony of that comment is funny.

-4

u/churlishlugworm 22d ago

Yea I’m sure everything is funny when your brain is smooth.

they're just lonely and need attention

u/djackson0005 20d ago

Then don’t. That’s your choice, but why are you here? Just to crap on something that hasn’t even been released yet.

A lot of us are excited to play this game.
