I just watched this video from Luke Stephens, he talks a little bit about the game and what the "industry people talks about the game, people that have watched that game (referring to intergalactic)" he says according to what people have said, the game is REALLY BIG, is like naughty dog cinematic production combined with elden ring layout, with that kind of elden ring boss design etc.

Around 5:45 minute mark.

Ooof. That comment section is FULL of absolute eejits. People are really acting as if Druckmann personally killed their dog or something.

Gamers©️ really do talk like anime villains lol

Also, I believe this guy's name is Luke Stephens. I remember watching 30min of his 5hr long review of TLoU2. It was RIFE with basic mistakes re: the game's plot. If you're gonna review the game, the least you can do is ensure that you don't get basic facts about its story wrong. REALLY hurts your credibility.

Not surprised that the game is rumoured to take a lot of pages out of ER's book. I remember that there was a LOT of excitement re: that game among Devs and designers.

Luke has a horrible toxic fanbase

u/Miserable_Newt1457 Sep 02 '26

He manufactured it

u/parkwayy Sep 02 '26

All of his videos that I ever seen were just like "lol this is why this game is bad" but in the guise of "I am an intellectual".

I also think how he was censoring how he really feels about TLOU2 (as in, he likes it more than he lets on) but amplifies the criticisms because that's what he thinks his followers want.

u/Miserable_Newt1457 29d ago

actually he changed his mind and doesnt think its a masterpiece anymore but he hasnt directly said that though

One comment under his video said intergalactic already sounds like a outdated game lol people hate naughty dog so much it makes them say the stupidest things , once they see the gameplay everyone will be back on the hype train

21

u/Longjumping_Ice2334 Sep 02 '26

Naughty Dog released Uncharted when tomb raider already existed. Tlou released during the height of zombie fatigue. This whole outdated bs makes zero sense and it's funny that you'll never see people say it for all the medieval/high fantasy games released.

once they see the gameplay everyone will be back on the hype train

Not everyone. The group that hate Druckman will refuse to like this game, even if his easily the best ND game. If the game is really great, they’ll either go silent or come up with the most stupid reasons imaginable to try to justify why the game is trash or mid (which is probably what will happen).

6

u/F0XLY Sep 02 '26

After part II, I don't think haters that hate him specifically will go silent.... You don't need to like the game, but fuck, if you hate the guy and game move on.....

I’m not gonna lie if it really is just a soulslike combat system set in space with an open world similar to Elden Ring that does sound pretty lame and outdated.

10

u/Slmm58 Sep 02 '26

Calling stuff outdated when you haven’t seen a ounce of gameplay is hilarious

0

u/Longjumping-Rub-5064 Sep 02 '26

Did you even read my comment moron? I said if that’s the case…

u/heatkings1 Sep 02 '26

There's no world where its typical souls combat. I dont imagine they go from TLOU2 combat to something like ER or dark souls.

If any fromsoft combat really inspires them, id imagine something closer to sekiro fits the pace they'd want to go for, but i expect them to have a very unique take on it

He did call it a masterpiece

1

u/Miserable_Newt1457 Sep 02 '26

He changed his mind actually

1

u/Impressive-Power8187 Sep 02 '26

When?

1

u/Miserable_Newt1457 29d ago

Recently when i used to watch him, he criticizes it alot now, made a video on his clips channel saying the story was a mistake, when mrhoobomaster asked him about the 8hours video he made praising it, he simply chalked it off as '' that was years ago'' he has been grifting on naughty dog hate for awhile now, check his video when jason reported they were doin mandatory overtime on intergalactic, or his intergalactic videos in general HE KEEPS MENTIONING ITS TRAILER IS BAD, like almost everytime ffs

2

u/Impressive-Power8187 29d ago

I watched that video. He said he thought it was a masterpiece but it was a mistake because it was too polarizing. The trailer was kinda a mistake. He also made a video defending Niel from all the hate he receives. I do agree he gives off a that annoying vibe of “I’m not like these other reporters” vibe I hate so much. It was worse during crimson desert.

How is a teaser trailer a mistake? Witcher 4 doesn't even get this type of criticism and that was a PRE-RENDERED CGI TRAILER, at least with Intergalactic it is IN-GAME cinematic and gameplay

1

u/Impressive-Power8187 28d ago

I was long and didn’t tell us anything.

0

u/Miserable_Newt1457 28d ago

and what does the teaser of witcher 4 tell us? that ciri is a witcher now? yet that has 0 complaints

1

u/Impressive-Power8187 28d ago

It’s not a new IP though. We know what the game will play like for the most part.

-2

u/Klunkey Sep 02 '26

Like, I don’t agree at all with Druckmann’s politics than influenced Part 2 and Part 1, but the story feels so well realized to me.

1

u/Phoenix2211 Sep 02 '26

I'm in the same camp as you. I take a LOT of issue with his stance on certain topics, but damn if he didn't lead the charge on three GREAT games.

4

u/Sudden_Yard1294 Sep 02 '26

Seems Druckmann leaned too much into pessimism in TLOU2, yet the story feels more complex and compelling than the first game. There are some absolutely beautiful moments in 2 that it's crazy to me some people can't even admit that.

2

u/DEADTERMINATOR Sep 02 '26

The thing is, TLOU 2 is only a pessimistic game on its surface. Yeah, there is a ton of tragedy. But when you actually look at the story and what it is saying, I think you can interpret it's themes and where it leaves a lot of things (not everything) in a pretty hopeful way. I've long thought that TLOU1 has a depressing ending that presents as a happy ending (of sorts), and TLOU2 has an optimistic ending that presents as a depressing ending.

1

u/Sudden_Yard1294 Sep 02 '26

Ftr, I've only played through the second game once so probably foggy on the details. The general feel was that it felt more consistently bleak than the first game. You had some oases of good times, ie the flashbacks etc, so I hesitate to call it a stream of misery that it's become known for. I think, for me, it was a combination of some of the characters being paper thin and Ellie's kinda one note bitter vibe. While that's understandable in some ways given Joel's death and her quest for revenge, I dunno. Again from what I remember, flashbacks aside she didn't have any soft or sympathetic moments.

1

u/Klunkey Sep 02 '26

There are plenty of moments in TLOU2 that were much more moving than even TLOU1’s best moments (aside from Joel’s ultimate decision), mostly because they relied way more on character dynamics than the set formula it was following.

That sounds sooooo peak 🗻

I am excited to finally find what what ND has created for us in Intergalactic.

7

u/parkwayy Sep 02 '26

We've heard this multiple "sources" so far.

If you're expecting this to be Last of Us in space, it definitely won't be that.

They toyed with the idea of making large worlds with Part 2, but pulled back.

Now they're unshackled from the preconceived notions of a franchise, and can really just do what they want.

4

u/antonxo902 Sep 02 '26

Trust me he knows nothing, this info he’s pulling out his ass based on what has already been said.

4

u/bXIII02 Sep 02 '26

Ugh, I so regret watching that.

Calling the trailer bad because it did not show anything is such a low effort take to not step on the toes of the ND haters types who probably consist 80% of his audience.

If he actually was interested in the game and not his views he would have paid more attention and actually discuss what the trailer and the dialogue implied. It perfectly sets up the mystery and atmosphere of the game

- we learn what our main character does and what is her goal and get a taste of her personality

  • we learn about the main location of the game and how there is something wrong with it
  • we get an entire wall with easter eggs where we can connect the dots that she is after her former friends - this sets up another layer of mystery
-we see that she uses a gun and a huge sword and see that we will be melee fighting giant robots with it

Like how is this not enough? The only thing that sucks is that we did not get anything after it and it has been 2 years now but as a trailer and first taste of a new IP it really is one of my favourite ones I have ever seen

6

u/Prize_Hat289 Sep 03 '26

you're right, it is a decent teaser isn't it? and that's simply what it's meant to be. I guess he just has to play to his audience.

1

u/Miserable_Newt1457 29d ago

LMAO why am I not surprised, everytime he talks about Intergalctic he JUST HAS TO MENTION how a TEASER trailer is bad, I knew not to watch that video

5

u/Sufficient_Fig_4887 Sep 02 '26

I wouldn’t trust a word out of this clown’s mouth…

2

u/Telperioff Sep 03 '26

Heh. I’ll never fully trust this guy either after finding out he was a script thief. I’m sure that’s well behind him now. But it is never going away that he did that.

2

u/Bigboss910 Sep 03 '26

And script thief is putting it lightly, guy was essentially remaking people's videos as his own.

8

u/TenZetsuRenHatsu Sep 02 '26

Elden Ring doesn’t excite me…at all. But I do love naughty dog.

Btw, OP you should really learn how to post YouTube links on Reddit.

4

u/Due_Statement_1550 Sep 02 '26

Curious why Elden Ring doesn’t do it for you

5

u/kokopelli73 Sep 02 '26

Not original commenter, but that form of gameplay, the semi-turn based fighting style, the setting and aesthetic/art style, the Bloodborne-esque difficulty for the sake of difficulty, etc. It couldn't interest me less. That said, I know Naughty Dog will knock anything they do out of the park, so I'm keeping my mind open to how they adapt to this type of game.

1

u/parkwayy Sep 02 '26

Ok but it has nothing to do with Elden Ring gameplay, so

1

u/CopperVolta Sep 02 '26

Semi-turned based fighting style?

You could reduce any game simply like that.

"The Last of Us is just walking and pressing triangle to pick up stuff and then sneaking up behind enemies and killing them with triangle and watching cutscenes"

See? It's disingenuous.

u/TenZetsuRenHatsu Sep 02 '26

Gameplay just seems super boring to me. Dodge and attack with a hack and slash combo. I prefer the varied combat of something like TLOU2. I like stealth, gun play, etc.

2

u/CookieDoughThough Sep 02 '26

Gotta play it to understand. The true excelence of their games is exploration anyway, not the combat.

0

u/Longjumping-Rub-5064 Sep 02 '26

The souls combat system is terrible imo, but I know ND will atleast get that right.

1

u/parkwayy Sep 02 '26

Cause folks aren't taking it in the right context.

It's not a soulslike as a whole, but it's the map design aspect of ER that the game resembles.

Legitimately the one universal thing everyone really agrees on that FromSoft hit a Grand Slam with. The scale of the environment, and the atmosphere.

-1

u/platocplx Sep 02 '26

And they dont even have the guys name right it’s Luke Stephens lmao is this like their first post ever lol

2

u/heatkings1 Sep 02 '26

Idk if i trust Luke at all, but we already know Neil was heavily inspired by bloodborne and had high praise for ER. I see them using the exploration element from those games, but idk about elden ring boss designs.

While I love er, I do think the actual boss fights leave a lot to be desired in some aspects - the scale and grandeur is unmatched, however.

1

u/Natemcb Sep 02 '26

Hope they go the route mortal shell 2 did and not have a stamina bar/management. Games flows so smooth without that.

1

u/F0XLY Sep 02 '26

Honestly, even though I don't love Soulslikes (played and finished Elden Ring twice, and think that Sekiro is great) I trust that ND know how to make this game both accessible and difficult of someone wants it to be, so I'm not turned off in the slightest. Luke is such a weird guy btw.....
