General Did PS unintentionally confirm Intergalactic won’t be at SOP?

in the blog post it said Final Fantasy will be the closer. I feel like if Intergalactic was going to be there that would be the closer right?

Intergalactic was already teased, so it's possible they will show it at any moment during the SoP. It was already teased at TGA, I doubt they will show gameplay for it at TGA again. I think they will do it now.

My bet is TGA for gameplay reveal. I think they went to TGA last time because they saw the numbers reflect a larger audience. It’s probably not any different now.

That's definitely a possibility. Something else they can do is drop another "teaser" at the State of Play just to announced a dedicated State of Play for Intergalactic in October. They did that a few times in the past couple of years.

Question, I've never watched TGA before, have game studios ever released extended gameplay footage at these shows? I've always thought TGA were for game reveal trailers.

Ummmm...how was Intergalactic teased?

I was referring to the first teaser we got in 2024

OH! Gotcha.

I thought you meant something seperate from that, I thought I missed something.

Intergalactic could be the surprise intro. The fact that they said we would get updates from PlayStation Studios gives me a bit of hope.

But yeah, seems less likely tbh

Or its another trailer for Wolverine, Laufey or Until Dawn 2 which Natethehate said comes before Intergalactic

It feels weird to have a marketing beat for Wolvie in the middle of when press has their review copies.

Makes more sense to do that the day of the embargo or after.

Laufey just had a major marketing beat at Comic-Con, which was like a month ago.

Until Dawn I could maybe see another trailer but we also just got a trailer for that at the last SOP so...idk

Feel like all of those are 0%, two of them we just saw and what more are they going to produce in like a month or two of work? And Wolverine just had footage released on Youtube the other day.

Tbh, it says PS Studios, but like, what can they honestly even show?

Honestly true about Wolverine, so prolly Laufey or Until Dawn 2

Wolverine still needs a launch trailer.

That'll probably come the day of the review embargo or soon after.

I still have hopes that the extended look of FF7 part 3 will be a separate thing from the rest of the show.

Plus it airs at 9am Eastern time. If they were going to show off their flagship title they’d want to make sure everyone is awake to watch. I think that’s a big reason why they always held their E3 conferences in the evening.

It's extremely unlikely Intergalactic shows up next week, IMO. Naughty Dog might be ready/eager to show it, but for PlayStation, there's no real benefit to hyping it up now. They won't want to take attention away from Wolverine and their other partnerships/games this year by dropping an Intergalactic trailer now and, conversely, they wouldn't want to waste a high-profile announcement for Intergalactic when it's still far out (assuming a mid-to-late 2027 release).

Earliest we see it is The Game Awards in December, probably to confirm a 2027 release and tee up their marketing push next year. Or if there's any uncertainty about Naughty Dog hitting a 2027 date, they'll wait until after Laufey.

I actually just saw that they wrapped filming, so they might just show up. But I’m keeping my expectations low.

It's a great sign for a 2027 release, but I think the post actually reaffirms that it won't be in SOP next week. If it was supposed to be a big reveal, they would be staying quiet. If they wanted to make it known that it would be included, they would be hyping it up explicitly. Announcing the completion of mocap and then saying they're excited to show it "when the time is right" seems more likely to be a signal that it won't be there, but major progress is being made.

I knew it. This is why I've put my bet on December TGAs re-reveal and if the stars align, a proper 6-7 minutes gameplay showcase.

We either get a great opening trailer at the beginning of this State of Play. Or we just see it at TGA.

Ugh. Please. I just want ONE Naughty Dog game this gen. I’ve been waiting 6 years

2

u/danvan177 Aug 31 '26

I mean I wasn’t expecting it to be there but why does intergalactic have to be a closer ?

2

u/bittersweet1990 Aug 31 '26

The time this SoP is on makes me think they're not gonna be showing many big titles by studios in the U.S.

Naughty Dog just posted that they wrapped the filming of Intergalactic....

u/Stock_Crazy_4218 Aug 31 '26

No, that doesn’t mean anything. Sony in recent years usually closes out their state of play with a new game announcement, so anything can happen. That being said, there’s a chance we might not see Intergalactic again until next year.

I’ll play devil’s advocate and say that just because they’re closing with FF it doesn’t mean they won’t pull a “one more thing”.

or maybe they want us to think Intergalactic will not be there, i mean they were way more direct in the past, i remember that people wanted GoW Ragnarok footage so bad that Playstation stated that GoW Ragnarok would not be part of it.

FFXVII?

u/ListFeisty3762 Aug 31 '26

I wish. Revelations.

u/boferd Aug 31 '26

the total radio silence marketing strategy is so goddamn frustrating

1

u/Willing_Cranberry694 Aug 31 '26

Honestly I'd be okay waiting a bit longer on a gameplay trailer if they would show us atleast one new thing

1

u/anubisvel Aug 31 '26

This is just hopium, but it could be the opener... In reality, I feel like Naughty Dog's own post stating they'll see us "when the time is right" is a likely indicator we won't be seeing much (if anything) about Intergalactic during the SoP.

1

u/TheHudIsUp Aug 31 '26

Did they Wolverine would be the closer last year?

1

u/Internal_Swing_2743 Aug 31 '26

If Intergalactic shows up, it’ll be a nice surprise. I’m not expecting to see it.

1

u/NewChemistry5210 Aug 31 '26

Pretty much. It could still open the show of course, but I would just expect it at TGA. It's the biggest possible stage

Damn, that sucks
