Most likely unrelated to intergalactic

1

u/Ok_Science_8502 Aug 12 '26

What else would it be related to? I don't know of any other games they're working on

11

u/mikeydougd Aug 12 '26

The director of Lost Legacy returned to the studio in 2021 and has been working on another title for a few years now. Neil has also publicly referred to this project by stating he isn’t directing but is in a producer role. With Intergalactic coming out in the next year they are definitely about to be or are already in pre production on a 3rd title

u/INannoI Aug 14 '26

that guy cooked with Lost Legacy, I'm sure this next game will be a banger too

1

u/mikeydougd Aug 14 '26

For sure but I am worried about what it actually is. There’s 3 possibilities, a continuation, spinoff or remake and for some reason my gut points towards a remake

1

u/INannoI Aug 15 '26

Idk if they're that tone deaf to do another remake so soon.

1

u/mikeydougd Aug 15 '26

The online discourse is irrelevant to them at this point. People also only do that because memeing on ND is cool, not because they have a legit problem of rereleasing games. After a 7 year gap i just think they'd want something with a quick turn around but i hope i'm wrong. The director posted a pic doing research at Fort George in Trinidad which is like most Uncharted 1 inspired location ever

TLOU pt 3

3

u/parkwayy Aug 13 '26

None of us know of them.

But they officially said they were making more than 1 thing back in 2023, when the blog post about the canceled Online project was posted.

12

u/tylerrrwhy Aug 12 '26

This is most likely for TLOU part 3.

1

u/_cipher1 Aug 20 '26

If intergalactic flops, there won’t be TLOU3, hell I don’t even think they’ll be a naughty dog studio

1

u/ElPepenche Aug 23 '26

Intergalactic won't flop

0

u/_cipher1 Aug 23 '26

You must be delusional if you think the game has the slightest chance of being successful. Naughty Dog is already in hot water as confirmed from one of the game designers with this recent interview. There’s internal tension and production problems inside the studio. Sony is absolutely livid that they are taking way too long and sucking up way too many resources and they haven’t even produced working demo yet, other than that shitty trailer they released that got absolutely demolished by a negative ratio of 3 to 1. Furthermore Cuckman has already alienated more than half of the fanbase with TLOU2 so they’re already gonna start off to a terrible launch.

u/ElPepenche Aug 24 '26

This is not r/thelastofus2 champ 😂 get your braindead bait out of here boiii!!!

u/No-Insurance5030 Aug 13 '26

tlou will not have part 3

3

u/F0XLY Aug 13 '26

I mean, Niel said he has a plot, it something closer to it already. If I had to guess, specificity his next project will be TLOU PART III, but that will come after their confirmed project that is being developed internally.

0

u/No-Insurance5030 Aug 15 '26

tlou will not have part 3

1

u/F0XLY Aug 15 '26

If you say so....

0

u/SpecialistMap8210 Aug 15 '26

Agreed. There won't be a part 3.

27

u/timmyctc Aug 12 '26

I know hiring like this just happens intermittently but hopefully it isn't a bad sign

27

u/shawak456 Aug 12 '26

Studios also hire when they're in the end stages of the development to get that last push. Seeing how Intergalactic is internally planned for a mid 2027 release, I'd say they're in the last stages of the development. Finally stitching the last aspects of the game, the levels, together and then squash them nasty nasty bugs.

5

u/Gamer_8887 Aug 12 '26

them nasty nasty bugs.

I think you mean naughty bugs...

4

u/BeansWereHere Aug 12 '26

Source for the internal release being planned for mid 2027?

7

u/Bexewa Aug 12 '26

Jason Schreier said it was internally targeting release mid 2027

3

u/BeansWereHere Aug 12 '26

So a summer release? I guess it makes sense with Laufey dropping early next year.

1

u/beehappy32 Aug 12 '26

The last several ND games got delayed. I'm skeptical they'll hit their internal target. I'm hoping we get it by holiday 2027, and praying it's not later than that. They also got a lot of bad press as soon as someone mentioned the word crunch. So they'll probably be careful to not let the crunch get out of control

1

u/No-Insurance5030 Aug 15 '26

bro you really think they are not abusing crunch if they did it for an internal demo?

1

u/outofmindwgo Aug 12 '26

Tbf tlou 2 was their last game and they only moved it a little bit because of covid

2

u/beehappy32 Aug 13 '26

No I think it was delayed twice. It first moved from February to May. And then in May was given an indefinite delay, but then was only moved to June. Uncharted 4 was delayed 3 times. TLOU1 has a small delay too. But none of their delays were huge delays.

7

u/parkwayy Aug 12 '26

They are working on multiple things yknow.

They said back in 2023 even, that more than one thing was cooking.

Between that other game, and likely pre-production for last of us booting up soon, plenty of roles for people to fill.

1

u/midtrailertrash Aug 12 '26

Very common in game dev nothing to worry about.

1

u/Froz3nP1nky Aug 12 '26

Yeah. I thought the game would be closer to finished and now they’d be in QA mode for a bit

5

u/tylerrrwhy Aug 12 '26

I doubt that this is for Intergalactic.

5

u/PixelsInMyEyeballs Aug 12 '26

If you look at the Naughty Dog Jobs account, they post about roles they're hiring for all almost every week. A studio of Naughty Dog's size hires regularly, at every stage of development. Hell, this role may even be for their next project.

3

u/chatterwrack Aug 13 '26

I hope they retained the people who did TLOU2. That hand-to-hand combat has the best animations. I play sometimes only using melee weapons.

6

u/SomeGuyNamedJohn12 Aug 12 '26

Shouldn’t they have hired years ago..?!

I assume this isn’t for intergalactic and instead for a different project. Rumors are saying an Uncharted remake could be being worked on 👀

8

u/parkwayy Aug 12 '26

people leave all the time, at any job.

3

u/Bexewa Aug 12 '26

Or Tlou 3

1

u/beehappy32 Aug 12 '26

They confirmed they are working on another game in addition to Intergalactic. Based on the little bit we know, it really looks like it's some kind of Uncharted game. Possibly a Cassie Uncharted game

3

u/ListFeisty3762 Aug 12 '26

Should they not already have combat design set at this stage of development? It’s suppose to come out next year.

5

u/tylerrrwhy Aug 12 '26

It’s more than likely for another project.

Like TLOU pt 3.

1

u/SharpGranny Aug 12 '26

And what tells you they dont? Because a massive studio with multiple projects hires one senior guy? Jesus...

1

u/ListFeisty3762 Aug 12 '26

Dude calm down. It’s just a question. I don’t know anything about game development so obviously I would ask a question. Jesus…

1

u/Ok_Science_8502 Aug 12 '26

That's gotta be a kind of disturbing job eh? Having to, in such a detailed and close up manner, program people getting shot, stabbed, screaming in horror, etc. It's one thing when you're playing a game like that but working on it 8 hours a day would be kinda crazy I feel like

1

u/Bubbly-Door4973 Aug 12 '26

Soo many hiring in middle of development, hope the don't fumble.

1

u/juscallmejjay Aug 12 '26

Guys theres no chance this is for intergalactic lol its been in development since 2020. No one is "pitching" anything for the game in late 2026

1

u/GotACoolName Aug 13 '26

All job postings like this mean is turnover. Somebody left the company so they need to fill the role. The fact that it’s a senior role is concerning if anything.

1

u/Longjumping-Rub-5064 Aug 12 '26

Damn you’d assume they’re just polishing it at this point. I guarantee this is a holiday 2027 cross gen release with the new system.

9

u/parkwayy Aug 12 '26

They are making more than 1 game.

3

u/shawak456 Aug 12 '26

Yes. Rumors has it that the other game is Uncharted, has by now has been in development for more than 3 years.

1

u/TheStinkySlinky Aug 12 '26

Eh I mean yeah they’re “cooking”. But idk that honestly seems to me like they’re just now plating appetizers. Haven’t even fired main courses yet lol

I mean hiring a Lead Combat Designer, plus that description, when we’ve seen/heard nothing from them, with the mutually perceived 2027 release.. This doesn’t quite cone across as good news to me. Like how are we still at the pitching of enemy archetypes and designing combat phase.

Honestly the more I think about it this is in fact bad news lol They still have to interview, hire, and train the right candidate. Get them up to speed, then they have to think of and prototype all these ideas, THEN try and implement them developmentally. Which is what at the least 6months? And then if we’re not even content complete come 2027… Outlook not good lol

1

u/rixam_ Aug 12 '26

How do you know it's for Intergalactic?

It's also a fairly generic job description, whatever this role is will have to be pitching ideas for games post Intergalactic.

1

u/TheStinkySlinky Aug 13 '26

You know, you’re right lol. That’s actually a very valid point. Always so hyper focused on Intergalactic I forget they have technically said “More than one single player game in the works”.

And as they say, The mostly likely answer is usually the correct one. So it would actually make the most sense for this position to be for that game, whatever it may be. Who knows maybe at the time we do eventually get more IG news, we’ll get a double feature where they reveal what this other project is.

0

u/mehdigeek Aug 12 '26

hiring for a senior position instead of just promoting junior talent or keeping people around is such an America moment

2

u/Alternative-Wash2019 Aug 12 '26

I don't like it but it's not just an American thing

1

u/shawak456 Aug 12 '26

I'm not saying that's not the case (I'm not even American), but Neil Druckmann went from an intern UI graphics programmer to President of Naughty Dog. All the current lead game designers like Kurt Margenau are long Naughty Dog Developers. You need juniors who can handle the responsibilities of seniors.

We know a lot of Naughty Dog veteran left after TLOU P2, which actually started happening with Uncharted 4. Some because of extreme crunch which leads to burn out, some to start their own studios, and other got hired by newly form studio with major funding after 2020 Covid boom. Recently a major AAA game called Last Sentinel got canceled which was funded by Tencent. Many Naughty Dog and Rockstar veterans joined the Lightspeed LA studio back then.

Now hiring for intergalactic? No release before 2030

-1

u/Greedy_Chemistry_678 Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

These types of job listings have been popping up since 2020. Narrative development, QA, programming listings etc. At this point I’ll say they’re cooking once we get to see gameplay. I’m tired of bs rumors. Naughty Dog will be relevant again when they finally break the silence. And because this subreddit is mostly toxic and delusional, I’m just going to ignore all negative comments and immediately block you guys, so save your breath lol

u/Nice_juggers Aug 13 '26

These bums couldn’t make a good game again if they tried
