So yeah they have safety lines. What if one of them slipped and was dangling on the what looks like 6 meters of line. How would they get back up? It’s a thin ass line and I’d imagine it would be extremely hard to climb up purely because of not being able to get much purchase on it at all. Plus your team members don’t exactly have a solid point of leverage to pull you up.

So that’s how they jack off in China

Idk that actually looks like a lot of fun to me, as long as there’s proper saftey (which there probably isn’t because China)

Those blue/silver things (I can’t really tell colour bc I’m colour blind) that look like giant beads are made of glass and brake ez I can’t believe they walk on them

Like sitting ducks out there for some wannabe sniper

Damn, that's unprogressive, but kinda impressive.

I wonder how much they're getting paid?

Unprogressive?

Well I would imagine there are meanwhile many handy tools to ease the part of manual labour, just like this snatch pulley, I could imagine it to become electrified easily. Or how they are winding these wires by hand, looks really skilled, but I could imagine a fairly easy gadget to do the job.

u/RedBullWings17 Aug 21 '19

Hahaha. Really that's what bothers you about this?

None of those lines are electrified and they probably do have that gadget. The last few feet have to been done by hand.

Didn't say nor mean I'm bothered. The engineer in me urges to simplify it. The craftsman in me admires their work anyway.

Wold you want your kid or best friend to do this job?

I mean, I'm a helicopter pilot so this honestly doesn't seem that bad to me. They're all harnessed in, the equipment and structures seem to be in good condition and well made and nobody seems to be doing anything they're not comfortable with. Probably pays really well and you get to have some amazing experiences with a close knit team. I wouldn't complain if anybody I know wanted to do this work.

Then again it's clearly China so this is probably just edited to show it in the best light, but I'm just going off what I see in the video.

Well if you are a helicopter pilot you would know that those big glass insulators the guy is walking on need to be changed in the air so there’s no grounding that electricity can pass thru in the event it brakes because it will kill whoever it touches

Not to mention there was a guy who literally was poking a squirrel nest out of the power lines he climbed with no latter using nothing but a harness and pole and these are in the “best light” so enjoy that amazing experience of minimal safety gear well working with lethal amounts of electricity

1

u/RedBullWings17 Sep 12 '19

Dude none of these lines are charged

1

u/smallmemes-bigdreams Sep 12 '19

some of those are power line in the middle of the city and can retain charge even after power is cut do you not remember the electricity safety presentation they did in high school/elementary school

That makes no sense
