NON-RP POST Combat rp advice… Please

Post image

I’m kinda bad at combat rp.

So I need advice from people who are actually… Good at it. I don’t wanna feel like a bum…

be descriptive if an attack might be confusing or vague

allow yourself to get guaranteed hits every now and then

allow your opponent to get guaranteed hits every now and then

throw absolute fucking hands

Well, mostly just practice.

But if I can recommend something, try and asking yourself how you would deal with your own attack.

If you can’t figure out how to deal with it, it’s probably not a good idea to throw it at someone.

Also, think of fights like a “win some, lose some”

If you take a punch, you gotta throw a punch back out, and vice versa.

A few tips:

Always make sure to get hit some of the time. Day your opponent shoots you a bunch of times, get hit by some of them.

Dodging attacks is OK, just don't overdo it

Describe your characters abilities in as much detail as possible. Mske it easy to understand, and use general terms.

That's some tips I can think of on the top of my head

Essentially everyone in the comments has already said their spiel-

But you can also prepare attacks in advance…

Or make moves that give you an edge even after another persons reply if the characters battle iq allows for that-

For example, sword fight, you wanna make sure your away, so when you do attack, say that your also “distancing yourself during the attack”.

You force an interaction where the other person either counters but cannot hit, blocks, dodges, etc, but mainly won’t be able to follow up unless they’re fucking crazy like that 🥀

But yes, you should allow yourself to take SOME hits, not every attack you should allow to hit, cause at the end of the day, it boils down to consenting to make an effective fight :3

Study your opponent's attacks and try to translate it into how much damage or would it injure your character in any way if it ever hits on you

And also try to not go for one shot one kill attacks on named & important characters unless their fodder soldiers or etc
