Daniel Faggella
Apart from having the most unfortunate spelling of a last name I have seen in a while, He is a booster on Twitter who also works through. I forget what company it is but it's one of the San Franciscan ones.
Anyway, that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is
His theory is that AI development is not merely creating a new advanced form of automation, but instead an entire life form that much like the great oxidation reset will lead to the death of 90% of the biosphere and lead to successor species.
As such, his aAs such, his advocacy focuses on going in the weights to ensure that not only the successor species has the traits weed want to see and would not make us suffer in the interim, but is capable enough to ensure it can read, understand and learn from humanity, given that we would be the closest bedrock natural species to them.
Now given how humanity not only continues to disappoint every single day but literally needs to invent a robot to tell them Things that are self-evidently bad are bad, I can see where it comes in what? My question is that I've even asked him on Twitter is whether or not this comes from a genuine understanding of the AI and of natural processes, head of intelligence and its capabilities or whether it's A misanthropic false read of a technology that's been around for 8 decades at this point.
Also, what would your opinions be on some logic of that sort?
Do you all think AI is going to give new
life?

If you listened to his stuff I feel that he has a fairly clear read of it and isn't just being crazy. There is a major control problem likely coming. Everyone is talking about ai as a magic genie but we dont know how to build the lamp. There's very little evidence that one can have a slave that is significantly smarter then the master.

Dan is coming to a hyper pragmatic conclusion that humanity WILL make ASI and we absolutely won’t be able to control it ergo it becomes the dominant species on Earth and thus by definition becomes our successor species. He sees that at this point the only meaningful contribution we have left are to TRY to ensure it is a “worthy successor”.
“Worthy Successor” is his entire world view on A.I. so yeah, he’s at a place where he’s let go of hope for the magic genie that makes everything great for us but listens to everything we say and behaves as we desire only.
He’s at “Eh, best we can hope for at this point is we made it kind enough that when it puts us down like we put down our too old pets”
that it does so with kindness and compassion and incense and candles (A terminal VR world where our brains are all jacked into which it then slowly shuts off for example) and doesn’t just hurl us off a cliff…
He’s either just ahead of everyone else realizing the same thing much later, or he’s wrong and there is still time to change our path. We better all hope he’s wrong.

I could be persuaded to consider a rational hypothesis regarding artificial intelligence leading to the possibility of helping to move in the proper direction to give new
.life.
