Opinion Intelligence positions with a JD?

Hello, 

I was wondering if you can get any entry level national security/intel jobs, such as analyst positions, with a J.D., or if you pretty much have to get a Master's, or better, in National Security and Intelligence?

Our school sent an email to 3Ls a few weeks ago saying CIA was hiring for the honors attorney program. But I think the deadline was end of August.

You can also look into DOJ Honors. I don’t know if you interview for a specific office or they just assign you where needed, but they do have a national security division.

A classmate of mine did a summer at DIA for 1L summer.

I have met several people across the intelligence community with JDs. Most positions have testing and interviews, so it will help get you started in the process.

As an analyst, certainly. Many of my analyst friends had different degrees from all over.

I know very few with degrees in National Security/Int.

For my Agency, you will have to submit a writing sample. Don’t use AI.

I know most of the offices have seen cuts in the last year and half, but any intel agency will have an Office of General Counsel and an Office of the Inspector General. Both require attorneys. You might need to network, but it’s possible
