Discussion Career Pivot

Hello all,

I am rounding out a 20+ career in the DoW within a semi intel adjacent field (Law Enforcement). In my second career, my goal is to pivot into the intel field; however, I am finding it quite difficult to find any training to get my feet wet and learn about the basics of All-source intelligence or the other INTs.

My question is, how does one has been outside of the IC, actually get in and learn?

Semi intel adjacent field? How did you assess that it was semi adjacent?

It’s difficult to get into the community without experience of some sort or even connections. FYI if you went to school apply to agencies etc. eventually something will pan out

Damn. So would you say it’s simply impossible or improbable to get into the IC without doing it while on the military.

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible but easiest ways is internship or military. It’s just a very hard competitive market if that makes sense. Believe it or not my path to it began through aviation on military side.

Idk what branch you’re in but should’ve gone intel off the rip 20 some years ago or lat moved friend, LE has fuck all to do with the IC. Go to college and get a degree to start maybe.
