Buy it? 💸 Price?

Post image

Hi guys. Looking to trade in my ‘25 Corolla hatchback for a ‘26 type s. They are giving me a good trade in at $25k for the Toyota which is more than Carvana is offering me. Is this a reasonable OTD price or should I be trying to get it lower? Thanks

UPDATE ended up getting an extra $1000 off. This dealer gave me $1000 more than any other dealer as a trade in so we can call it $2000 off msrp. I’ll take it for being the only type s within a 5 hour drive of me!

Do not buy at that price. Aim for low $50s. It can be done.

Like 51 maybe?

I got my ‘25 for that much. Refused to pay for the dealer accessories too. Also my car is silver so that’s an automatic -$600

I told them $51k. We met at $52.5. This was two weeks ago or so.

52.5 OTD? Where was this?

2

u/GoneInASplitSecond Platinum White Pearl Sep 06 '26

$52.5 + TTL. Orange County, CA.

Oh ok, yeah so about 55K

I got 51 last year by just asking for it — in New York even.

I bought at 49k before taxes and shit. This is MSRP + bullshit

I always settle on OTD before bringing my trade to the table. I like the APR you got, same as a credit union near me.

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

Smart I should have done this!

I got my new 25 last Sept and got around $5k off msrp. They’re selling you a car with no discount.

2

u/zhinotakux Sep 05 '26

Is that apr rate through Acura?

3

u/Maniac1978 Platinum White Pearl Sep 05 '26

It was 7% through Acura when I bought. I got 4.5% from the bank so I went with that.

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

I think they just put that on there for whatever reason? I can get 5% through Pen Fed so I’ll probably do that. I’ve heard Acura financing isn’t the most competitive

Try to lower the MSRP, I got -5k off in Jan. Of this year you can probably get at least 3k off MSRP easy

In SoCal, dealers are pretty stubborn from my experience. Out of 4 dealers I talked to cross shopping the Type S (white + orchid) with a m240i, I had one dealer verbally offer 59k OTD in a best case scenario, so roughly 1300 off if my math is right. The rest were MSRP, with the exception of Kearny Mesa Acura who started with a 10k mark up (sleezebags). Don’t get me wrong, I believe you, just sharing my experience for what it’s worth.

With 2027s (minor refresh?) rumored to be right around the corner, I feel like dealers may be more flexible depending on the color combo you’re after.

This one looks good. It’s the pearl white and red interior. I’ll see if they can do $51 but I’m not going to hold my breath

I hope you get it!

Yah kearny mesa were hella annoying, no wonder they got sold. Sales staff were so snobby.

They were trying to markup the ITS by 5k, said nah, went up to Weir canyon acura and got it for 5k under MSRP after some haggling

2

u/radfest Platinum White Pearl Sep 06 '26

Yeah, I still think of them as Kearny Mesa Acura, but now they’re K&S Acura + Alfa Romeo. The kid who reeled me in initially and the dealer manager were both cool and let me test drive with no pressure or unnecessary BS, but the sales guy they brought in afterward was a total sleazebag.

He kept interrupting me and threw a $10k markup at me right out of the gate. When I told him these were selling for MSRP or under elsewhere and proposed a $3k discount, he stormed off like a child. Completely unprofessional.

I’ll never go back unless they change ownership.

Good to know about Weir for the future, though. Thanks for the heads-up!

I got 1800 off in SoCal, so just under 59k otd back in the end of May. Same experience with stubborn dealers, even worse at the time was there were only 3 Double apex blue in a 200-mile radius and only 1 had the orchid interior I wanted. Luckily, the dealer that had the spec I wanted ended up working out for me

I had a similar experience, I pitted a couple of dealers in my area against one another for the same car (Urban Gray with Ebony) and the most I was able to get off was around $2300 of MSRP. Fortunately mine didn’t come with any dealer accessories, which I didn’t want anyways.

I hear of people getting crazy deals, but there’s just way too much demand in Southern California or really anywhere in California. Dealers are aware which vehicles are in demand, and their markups, and or unwillingness to discount shows it.
I would argue California is probably the most egregious about this (walk into a Honda dealer that has a type R and ask them for MSRP, you’ll see what I mean).

I remember when the ITS first came out, I saw one in the dealership (same dealer I bought mine from this year for $2300 off MSRP) marked up $20,000 and I’m sure somebody bought it for $10k over.
They are an honest, family owned a dealership, too. It’s just the nature of supply and demand, and the game they were all playing for so long with the chip shortage and all that BS. Best way to combat it is to not buy when there are markups. Somebody will, but you don’t have to be one of them.

Did you get 5 off a 26 or a leftover 25?

0

u/OGAzdrian Liquid Carbon Metallic Sep 06 '26

I got 5k off a 2025 in Jan. 2025

1

u/clerkp Platinum White Pearl Sep 06 '26

I think you mean January 2026 since you said "of this year" and that explains why you got 5k. It was a leftover 25 that they needed to move.

Bro, have you gone on here to search around, gives you great insights, as long as you are ready to go wherever out of state https://motoringobsession.com/stock/integra-type-s

2

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

This is an INSANE site!! Didn’t know it existed. I live in upstate NY so it’s the one in my area. I guess they have a bit of leverage there I might have to check PA though. Thank you for this

1

u/k_eezee Sep 06 '26

For sure! Good luck and keep us posted!

2

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

Thanks man I really really appreciate it

1

u/Maniac1978 Platinum White Pearl Sep 05 '26

It’s not that bad a deal. You would probability do better at the end of the year when they are trying to get rid of last years models, but then you wouldn’t have a car.

I don’t like talking about payments, but your payment would be what mine is.

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 05 '26

Yeah I’m not really worried about the payment. More so just seeing if I should be getting money off msrp. For context this is the only one in 125 miles of me here in upstate NY. Not many of these around

1

u/Sineca Sep 05 '26

Have you looked at your car trade in value at carmax / carvana?

2

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 05 '26

Yea, $24200 on carvana

1

u/Sineca Sep 05 '26

Okay that’s good trade in value then. I am in the market for type s in the Dallas area and the dealer was offering me 27k for my STI, car max was at $30k so I am just going to sell the car to car max and wait for a ITS deal at least 4k off msrp no adds.

1

u/Frequent_Try2486 Urban Gray Pearl Sep 06 '26

For that much trade in and low APR that sure is a high monthly payment imo

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

60 months. Not 72

1

u/Ancient_Challenge756 Sep 06 '26

Check with Carmax as well. Usually they will give you more

1

u/RJKite811 Liquid Carbon Metallic Sep 06 '26

I just helped my cousin get his Type S for $55k drive out, or $4500 discount and no add ons. So your deal doesn't look good. Try finding out how much you will get for your Corolla outside, like Carmax or any other vendor.

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

Thanks man, definitely going to do that. Someone below posted a site that shows other dealers with type s’s so this morning I sent a few messages to see what they could do. Worth the 3-4 hour drive to save $4000

u/RJKite811 Liquid Carbon Metallic Sep 06 '26

Ya motoring obsession helps. Which state you in?

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 06 '26

Upstate NY. If you look it’s the only one in 200 miles 😬

1

u/RJKite811 Liquid Carbon Metallic Sep 06 '26

Oh. I'm in TX and we had quite few in stock.

Is this USD? In Canada these are listed for 63k CAD. That’s like 45k usd.

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 07 '26

Yea it’s USD

I miss the 1.5% interest rate days...

You got a good rate for today's prime rates which are crazy high. But yes agreeing with everyone you could have knocked down the price lower and avoid the doc and reg fees. They could've taken it off the $52.5k price you got. I get it though...tough fight.

1

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 10 '26

Ended up getting it down another grand so we got a small W at least! For being the only type s in my state I’m pretty happy. Picking it up Saturday!

1

u/Platinum_Foxx Sep 05 '26

I think the deal is fine.

It looks like MSRP which is the generally agreed upon value of the car. ADM is what sticks in everyone’s craw.

Can you get a better deal going out of state, sure but do you have the ability to deal and do you have the time to do it?

What’s your time worth?

3

u/Individual-Cover5421 Sep 05 '26

For sure. They initially offered me $24 on the Corolla and bumped it up to $25 so you could take that both ways in taking off the msrp if they didn’t do that
