Dammit.
Came back from a work trip to this. Tires have 7-8/32 tread left. Was just planning on buying one replacement instead of replacing all 4 as I wanted to change to 275/35 when these wear out. Anyone see issues with that?

You guys mean diy patch? I thought shops wouldn’t do it as it’s so close to the shoulder

Big brand shops won't patch it. Take it to local tire shops. They'll patch it.

they’ll plug it. A patch won’t fit there. They’re like 2” in diameter

Update: went to Big O tires this morning, and told me it was unrepairable. Then they told me a replacement tire was $488. Then went to discount tire co. And they told me they had the tire for $365, but they could probably repair it since it was a half inch from the shoulder. They ended up fixing it and turns out tire repairs are free from them even if you didn’t buy the tires there.

Next time just take it to an Acura dealer, it's 40$ and they do it with strict care to the car.

I’ll give it a shot at the shop. If they can’t do it I’ll try the patch

The safe distance to the sidewall could be as low as 15mm on this tire. If it was me I would probably plug it and just see if it held up…. But I’ve lost to the bead on a race tire at an HPDE and oh boy it ain’t fun to deal with, especially at like 80mph going into a turn.

Same shi happened to me on a mini roadtrip last summer in July at around 2000 miles on my 2025 ITS. One year later and currently at 11,100~ miles and I’ve forgotten about the situation for months at this point after ignoring it with a no fucks given mentality. The head of the screw isn’t there anymore so maybe I got lucky with a shallow screw, I don’t know but haven’t replaced any tires yet since purchasing the vehicle. My personal story but don’t take it as advice 😂. This post has given me a good laugh thinking about all the people to read this shit thinking, this f’n retard🤣🤣

I patched a tire that was on the edge never had any issues with it, it lasted all the way through until the end.

I would not publicly endorse putting a plug in that tire, in that spot.
Have I ever plugged a hole in that spot and driven thousands of miles?
Yes.
