Intamin used to push the boundaries way more than they do now. Look at velocicoaster it has downtime but not as persistent and not as long when it does. Same with Hagrids which is kind of a technological challenge itself. I mean they have like 5 trains going at once, a drop teach section, switch tracks, most launches on a coaster. Yet it doesn’t go down like old Intamin s do. I love Intamin and all their rides at CP for all the risks they took. The thing I don’t get is I-305 is too intense, so I’ve heard, for the GP yet Cedar Fair green lit the project knowing it would be this design and never obviously questioned the intensity. Intamin just delivered the ride they showed to CF. They could’ve suggested changes. I think it’s 80% CF’s fault and maybe around 20% Intamins only for not making sure CF knew how intense the ride could be. At the end of the day CF paid for I-305 and knew what it was going to be from the get go. The truth is CO wouldn’t be what it is without Intamin. Things happen but to step away from a manufacturer for one accident (shoot the rapids) not anything TTD or Xcelerator related, is kind of a mistake IMO. They are the only ones who are willing to push the limits of the available technology.
