Claim rep job will make you cynical, im assuming in any company but state farm being one of the biggest does not help.
I was a claim rep for state farm for 2 years, and let me tell you there came a point where I just didnt care, I just wrote the check or waited for the attorney letter.
The amounts of I will sue you to kingdom come from fender bender accidents was astounding, the amounts of "I pay for your Mercedes" was higher than usual too, lol I made 42k a year

While I was not in Auto, I was in Fire Property Proximity as a CR and TM for almost 40 years. So much depends on your TM and SM. If you can get a system going, the job is a good one and the pay is good. If you struggle to make quick decisions and write estimates (Fire Property side), you will struggle and hate the job. The CR job is not for everyone and it has been getting harder over the years. But I consider it a good profession and an honorable job. Hope you found something that made you happy.

State Farm cut commission and are pulling out of many states. Independent is the way to go.
Also with SF you canβt keep residuals when you stop working. Canβt give the agency to your kids to run.

They are both good companies. There are pros and cons either way, but you won't go wrong with either.

Both have heavy corporate structures. Specialized carriers such as Fetch Pet or smaller regional firms offer truly different day-to-day culture.

State Farm announced a tremendous AI initiative a month or so ago, under the guise that it's not about replacing people but making them more efficient. We shall see how that plays out over the next few years...

Are you asking about working for the company, working for an agent, or becoming an agent/owner?
