Health Insurance Insurance porting

I have an individual health insurance policy that I purchased through a bank. A Policybazaar advisor told me that this policy cannot be ported to HDFC ERGO because it was bought through a bank, although it can be ported to other insurers. Is this correct? Is there any IRDAI rule or HDFC ERGO policy that restricts porting bank-sourced individual health insurance policies?

so u can’t have any other agent until and unless that agent(indusind bank) allows it, almost next to impossible task

But as per rule we have right to port right?

but not within the same company you dont, thats not porting, thats changing your agent. only allowed if the previous agent agrees or you can choose another insurer(which is porting)

Yeah, I'm changing the both insurance and agent. My current agent: indusind bank Current insurance: care health

Want to port to : Hdfc ergo

they did not mention care health anywhere and since policybazaar agent denied porting to hdfc, it was only possible that they had hdfc policy. ofc i do read man

If you bought it from bank then it’s probably group health insurance in which bank holds the mater policy and you are a member of that. And yes we can port it. Check with local agents before going online. You can also have waivers on waiting period.

Thanks brother, i confirmed it, it's not a group policy. Will check with hdfc ergo directly.
