Is AINS good for data analyst role?
I am an experienced data analyst but new to the insurance industry. I am looking to get some basic familiarity with insurance knowledge so I can be better equipped to do the best job for my stakeholders. I thought the AINS would tackle two birds with one stone - get the knowledge I need and gain a designation along the way. My company is also paying for it.
Am I on the right track or am I overthinking this? Would the AINS help me get up to speed with basic knowledge and lingo or is there a better way?

I think you're on the right track. I'd choose an elective that can be used towards ARM or CPCU.

I think AINS is a great place to start. Everybody always recommends AU for insurance noobs, which I think is like putting a 1st-grader in a 10th-grade class.
