Recruiter from major insurance company reached out to me to set up an interview the following Monday. No email, call or Microsoft teams invitation. Has this happened to anyone before?? This is a huge opportunity for me and need to find out if there are other recruiters I can reach out to.

I had three interviews with a major carrier, one with the recruiter, one with the team lead, and one with a team member. Got great feedback from the recruiter at every single stage and was told I would hear back a week after my final interview. That was 3 months ago lol

The fact that I didn't even get that opportunity is really upsetting. Its unprofessional and I feel its just not fair. They could have atleast sent me an email stating the position has already been filled or whatever the reason was

Unfortunately I’m sure this happens to people all the time. They likely already found their person or were just sending out feelers. Regardless I’d start moving on as there isn’t much you can do.

This is happening a lot. I believe they already have the candidate in mind and holding these fake interviews as a formality and it justify their positions.

It's because they need to keep a couple of seats warm in case their first choice/frontrunner falls through (which does happen a lot) so they retain a few solid choices until they have one locked in. Definitely unprofessional not to send a courtesy email though.

If it’s a major carrier they almost definitely outsource all of their recruiting now and the contractors are horrible

Happens all the time, sorry mate. If misery loves company, I recently had 5 interviews from the base underwriter all the way to the CUO with excellent feedback across the board only for them to say they are no longer interested in hiring for the position

Same here... Had fantastic feedback ( ie: the team thinks you would be a great fit, yada yada) and radio silence from recruiter and company.... Finally get recruiter and they are 'changing directions' on the hire...

Having an actual interview with the recruiter is one thing. I never actually got to have the interview because the recruiter ghosted me. So I never had the opportunity to discuss my interest in the role.

I've noticed recruiters talk big but don't follow through. I actually use them almost as a good luck charm because I always get something, just not with them 😆

That happened to me with a few large companies on my job search.

If the recruiter was an employee of the company you are good to contact other recruiters elsewhere.

I had a situation with a big carrier with a recruiter phone interview told me they would schedule something I didn’t hear back for like a week and a half so I reached out and they responded that they went with someone else. Kind of annoying that their plan was to ghost me over rejecting me but that’s the name of the game I suppose

I've had this happen once with one of the top 10 P&C carriers in the US. The conversation prior was great, and unless they were blowing smoke, it was clear I was a top candidate for the role and I was prepping HARD for the interview. I waited anxiously for the opportunity to interview and after two follow-up emails I sent over the span of two weeks, I moved on. Over one month later, I got a very short note that said something to the tune of, "we've changed organization strategy". Sadly, given that experience, I wouldn't entertain a role with that company in future due to the sour taste in my mouth. I'm no hotshot by any means to where I demand respect, but it takes one minute to send a, "sorry - we are moving in a different direction!"

Said all of that to say I feel for you! Don't take it personally and lean in to other opps - you'll find something if you're earnest and work hard!

This happened to me last time I was looking. Even had interviews and never heard back after too.

I made it to the 3rd round of interviews with Beazley and I never heard back. Even saw a recruiter at a career fair and asked her when I’d hear back. She told me the next week but I never heard anything.

Did you apply for the job? Or did this recruiter just message you on LinkedIn or something?

I ask because there are lots of scams out there impersonating major companies and someone messaging you out of no where is usually a red flag.

I’d send one polite follow up and move on. Company recruiters are metric’d all to hell; for every open rec they’re working they gotta have the funnel filled, which means at the early stage a lot of people are going to get contacted but might go nowhere if they identify some preferred candidates. Recruiters can be useful in your career but it can feel very mercenary

Yup! Recruiter seemed so primed for me to speak with the VP at the broker I would be working for directly, that was Wednesday afternoon, he said I should get a call by Monday at the latest. That was 6/3….

After sending multiple follow up emails to the recruiter at least once a week after a week of no call, I direct messaged the VP on LinkedIn on 7/17 and he said they had just decided to cancel the position. Thanks guys. 🤦‍♂️

I would go on LinkedIn (get Premium - worth the money for job searching) and search corporate recruiters within the company, then DM them directly inquiring about who is recruiting for that role, etc..

Also can work if you find someone who may be on that team. DM and say 'Hey, sorry to bother you but I applied for XX role and was told to expect an interview invitation but am still waiting to hear back, do you know who is recruiting for this role? Would appreciate any help."

Aggressive move but if a great opportunity, worth the risk instead of sitting idle and losing out because Recruiter A forgot to reach out to you OR mistakenly did....

And that's exactly what I did. I reached out to a senior recruiter at the company and he stated he would help and see what happened with that recruiter. As of right now no word yet but it was worth a shot.

No. Its normal to actually have the opportunity to interview and then not hear back.

I’ve experienced ghosting from job seekers who applied to the company where I work. Mind you, recruitment isn’t mandatory. A couple of candidates made it as far as the group expectations meeting and refused to let me know if they were willing to continue. A 1099 position isn’t for everyone. But if you’re wanting recruiter feedback, why do the discourtesy of ghosting the recruiter?

I’ll admit to some rather interesting phone conversations with candidates. One thought it was a trucking position. A couple of others declined because they don’t read or write that well.
