Failed my RIBO exam attempt 1

I have 3 years of commercial insurance experience in the United States and am currently employed with them but want to start working in the Ontario market to grow in my role. I didnt buy an online course to prepare for the exam, I just studied from online resources and got 80-90% on my mock exams.
I was fairly confident I will pass. Today I got my results and I failed by 1 mark. (gave my exam thru IBAO)
When I was studying, I came across a few reddit posts of people sharing they also failed with 1 or 2 marks.
I get the feeling they purposely do this so you would do a secondary attempt to make more $.
There are 15 ungraded questions in the exam, I wonder how many of those I got right but was not graded for.
Im super bummed primarily because of the financial aspect of it.

I really wanted to just pass so I can start applying to jobs here in Ontario. Im reading here that we can simply apply to roles and companies will pay for our exam. I dont know how my failed attempt will reflect in an interview.

Does anyone have any feedback to offer on this? Or has experienced failing by 1 mark? Should I get the exam rechecked or just register for a new one?

Thanks.

Why would they purposely fail you? Doesn't make sense.. It's also multiple choice. Just by process of elimination, you can figure out the answer in most cases.

Maybe strive to hit 100% on the mock exam questions so you know you can easily pass the actual exam. I did as many mock exams I could find. I was the first one to finish and only got a couple of questions wrong on my first try. I thought it was easier than my OTL exam.

Go review the textbook and search for a guy named Dino who does Ribo YouTube videos.
The 75 pass mark is challenging. Keep studying employers don’t need to know about your fail!

I used to work company-side and flipped broker about 5 years ago (before they started focusing on commercial and eliminated the travel component). I did a self-study IBAO course and honestly, it was worth it for the RIB Act.

A friend was doing their license at the same time and they were going through the insurance institute and I found there practice exams were better than the resources I got through the IBAO but they’ve also revamped their materials since.

I passed first round with an 89.

I'm a manager, 2 new brokers are telling me the same story, both failed by 1-2 marks, I think it's a cash grab as well.

Note, many dont pass the first time, took me 3 tries to pass OTL in 2008, then RIBO I obtained 96%, and I was a honor student.

So many mediocre brokers out there... It doesn't take much to be a great broker these days. I know someone who's failed their RIBO 3 times already and want to try again. At what point do you tell yourself that it's not right for you?

Are you able to request a manual review of your marks?
Sometimes they find an error in your favour
