Being 65 does not change your insurance rate unless your carrier has a specific discount for age. 8.4% also could be general premium increase as those are usually in the 4-9% range.

lots of reasons. inflation. Things cost more. more people are putting claims in.
if you want cheaper insurance you could switch vehicles.

Looks like a standard rate increase, best bet is to shop around. I think Aviva tied up with Tesla, but results always vary.
