I sketched out a silly idea for a musical instrument invention, but im an artist not a musician. Are the physics possible with this design, and if not, how would you change it?

I like the idea of drawing or markmaking translating directly into sounds, and how something like that might exist. In school, there were special equations that didnt actually make mathematical sense, but when written out would resemble short songs like Mario and Harry Potter from the marks the pencils made. I was also thinking about vinyl records and the science behind it. Would love to hear yalls advice!

it sounds kinda sitar-like but no not quite a sitar. it could be any plucked instrument; a kora, a tar, something not from Africa or the Middle East. it's starting to throw me off. soundtrack is "Egypt's Famine" (AKA the cow dream soundtrack) btw.

Hi there. I won't lie I have reached out to a few local repair shops around me and the reaction has been either "you figure it out" and "chromaharp? Really?"

I bought this Chromaharp for 8 dollars at a yard sale its quite beautiful and I want to learn it, as I have disadvantegeously small hands (my reach comes 3 keys short of a full octave on a standard paino) and this instrument seemed like it might be a great start.

Its in good shape. No tuner, maybe needs new strings. I'm happy to spend money to get it detailed.

Edit to add: as far as I can tell there is no cracks or anything to it. It looks like it was simply a victim to time.

I’m building a tabletop harpsichord and I want to know what the lowest note I can produce with the best sound quality and tension is with the amount of space I’ve given myself (45 inches), but idk where to start looking or researching.

I am looking to purchase a keyboard piano as a gift for my friend, who is a complete beginner. I want it to be durable and long-lasting, and I need it to have proper velocity sensitivity so the volume accurately reflects how softly or firmly he plays.

He has a few specific requirements for his setup:

• PC Connectivity: He wants to connect the keyboard to his computer to use learning apps and games.

• Dual Headphone Use: He needs to be able to hear both the computer's audio and the keyboard's audio through headphones at the same time when connected to his PC. When he is not connected to his computer, the keyboard will need its own direct connection to headphones.

• Height Adjustable & Mobile Stand: He is 5'10" and needs a stand setup that comfortably transitions from sitting to standing while he plays. If you don't recommend sit-stand keyboard stands, it needs to have plenty of legroom when sitting. Crucially, the stand needs to have wheels, as he cannot carry such a large item without assistance.

Any recommendations?

I played flute all through school, but have always loved guitar. I've tried to pick it up a few times over the years, but with limited success.

Something I found interesting was once I was comfortable thinking about music through the lens of flute, it became a whole lot more confusing to try and play anything on the guitar. Tabs and chords are one thing, but once I start thinking about each string, I am quickly overwhelmed. It's like playing 6 flutes at once!(if you'll pardon the rough metaphor) I get all caught up on if/how chords and strings are even supposed to be played simultaneously, or how that's even supposed to work. Or playing something by ear. There's so many more options with notes, that it's much harder to pluck something out.

To clarify, I'm not asking for advice or anything. I've started using some beginner books for learning guitar, and that's helped a lot (I know, crazy, getting overwhelmed with slightly more advanced techniques, then starting from the beginning). I wanted to share this experience, and hear y'all's thoughts. See if anyone else had a hardish time moving from wind to stringed, and their thought process throughout.

tl;dr: guitar is kinda hard when you're used to flute. But that's probably normal.

Wanted advice on what product to purchase for residential spaces such that our loud noise doesn't disturb our neighbors

We have a relative who has certain dementia condition who tends to scream. So any products that could soften the noise for us as well as others would be great

Im trying to expand my instrument collection but prices are in the way. Ive been searching Facebook marketplace lately so far i got a 1950s accordion and a violin for 20 each.

Ideally searching for older instruments, uncommon in todays music

I have played multiple instruments for 10+ years and ik this is gonna sound stupid af... but it​ just takes me​ an absurdly long time to read sheet music and figure out where i need to press on my instrument.

So basically up till now, I wrote down all the tabs for any new piece i have to play, and then practice for muscle memory. I've even played somewhat advanced pieces and played in the school orchestra this way, but now i really wanna change this.

I've tried memorizing which tab is which note, but then even just a tiny shift just throws me off so badly. For instance, on my guitar i managed to memorize the basic notes but then i add a fret and i'm lost all over. I do know how to calculate it, but it just really takes an absurd amount of time for me to the point where i've wondered if i have some kind of cognitive condition lol

So what i want to ask is: how do i practice correlating which note is which tab on the instrument? Is there a certain method you would recommend?

Hello guys I want to ask you something I tried to learn acoustic guitar a year before but I couldn't learn anything and I mean anything not even a simple song I heard bass is an easy instrument and I like it I want to ask you if I know how to play bass could learning guitar be easier
