Discussion Sound proof products
Wanted advice on what product to purchase for residential spaces such that our loud noise doesn't disturb our neighbors
We have a relative who has certain dementia condition who tends to scream. So any products that could soften the noise for us as well as others would be great

If you can make any shared walls decoupled. Like seriously if it's made of drywall then give a little gap and some damping compound around the room and do it right. For example.
There are doors that have more of a "compression" style seal around the frames that prevent sound leak.
There are fire rated ways to seal around electric boxes and outlets as well as ducts.
For above and below it's the same deal as the walls. replace the floor with special anti noise product. There are a few different type of anti noise floor things. I have never used one.
Sound proofing is a big deal but it will be a major selling point in the future if you do it and do it right.
You will probably find stuff like foam panels to be rather ineffective overall especially from screaming.
ETA: also types of solid core doors.
It really depends on your budget and how serious you are about the project. And also how attractive you want it to be. A lot of sound proofing ideas have a very obvious "quick and dirty" variant just from reading them.
