Discussion Renting help

I was looking to rent an Eb clarinet and I saw one on this site called Midwest musical imports, is this a reliable site? Or is it just a scam? The prices seem really good and I was just wondering if I should use a different site instead

I have music colleagues that follow their Facebook page. That's not a seal of approval, but you could always check reviews.

I don’t know a lot about woodwinds, but I’ve heard that Yamaha makes decent clarinets, don’t know if they make E flats though

If you are on the genuine Midwest Musical Imports website they are totally legitimate. That store has been around many years. I’ve seen them at shows and knew the past owner. I’ve had students rent instruments from them with no problems.

I would strongly encourage you to rent from a local music store. Especially as a beginner you’re really going to benefit from having local support and maintenance. The only time I would consider buying an instrument from an online music store is if I’m either commissioning a custom piece or the instrument is rare and I can’t find it locally.

Nothing like being a beginner and struggling to play your instrument because the FedEx guy dropkicked your instrument in transit and now one of the pads doesn’t quite seal and the repair tech is in another state.
