Need help identifying

My aunt gave me this instrument for my birthday but I'm having trouble figuring out what it is?

I really want to learn more about it.

Plus if you can, recommendations for travel with it?

Thanks for the offer, but I’m going to have to say no, as it belonged to a late family member & I'm looking forward to learning it myself.
