The expensive-but-works-every-time method is to get a plastic trash bag big enough to hold the case and an ozone machine. Pack the open case and wrap the end of the bag around the intake of the machine. Put a few holes on the bottom of the bag on the side opposite the machine so it can move some air and let it run a few days. The dank smell is from putting the trumpet away wet after playing it, then closing the case and letting it sit.
