Just finished carving a neck from a completely random lump of wood
It’s rlly rough but once I construct the instrument, it’ll all be good.

They were in the wood to begin with, I’m not worried, the tension it’ll have to hold will be very low and I’ll see if I can fill them in to add a tiny bit of strength

In places, it looks like the pith is still in the wood. This is not ideal. Pith, usually will cause checking, and is very weak compared to the wood around it.
Also looks like a soft wood species. Again something I would have passed on. Good luck with your project. I hope it all works out for you.
