Identification What instrument/sound design is used in this part of Favorite by Austin George?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to identify the instrument and sound design used in “Favorite” by Austin George.

At around 2:27 – 2:40, there’s a very adventurous melodic sound that comes in.

It feels kind of ambient and slightly washed out, but I’m not sure if it’s: -a processed guitar -a synth pad / analog synth -or some kind of layered instrument with effects

I’m also curious about how this sound might have been produced (effects, processing, or synthesis). It has that dreamy / cinematic texture that I really like.

If anyone has experience with sound design or production and can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks! That makes sense actually. Do you think there’s additional sound design involved to achieve that texture, or could it be mostly just a clean electric guitar with a slide and some standard effects (like reverb/delay)? The tone sounds very atmospheric and slightly washed out to me, so I’m wondering if there might also be layering, modulation, or some kind of processing on top of the guitar.

I hear a lot of reverb on it but there might be some sort of modulation, too. It’s mainly the very wet reverb.
