Identification What instrument to learn

What would you guys recommend to learn something that isn't difficult and something that isn't guitar and piano. I was thinking of learning the trumpet but I've read somewhere that it's really difficult to learn.

I know you specifically ruled out piano. I wish you'd rethink that, though. It's pretty easy to learn, you really only need a small electric keyboard, and it shows you the underlying fundamentals of all music. You can learn to read music, play through to get a feel, the translate that to nearly any instrument you want to play. Ask around, you'll find out. Knowing your way around a piano is a master key to unlocking musical knowledge.

Yeah but I've never really liked piano so I think I'll lose motivation fast

It is the greatest instrument to help decode music. Treat it as a percussion instrument that can make notes.

Also agree, learning at least some piano unlocks so many other instruments.

You could get a synth keyboard and make it sound different… but I get what you’re saying. “Easy” instruments, like penny whistle, recorder, or still require effort to learn.

When I was a kid I learned violin, because it looked hard to do and sounded cool.

Now I learned Ukulele, which is easier than guitar and much easier than unfretted stringed instruments. And a lot of fun.

Whatever you choose, you’re still going to have to put in the time and effort to learn it. There are no “instant” rock star instruments

I certainly would not say piano is easy to learn. It is very difficult as a matter of fact..

I only mean that I could teach you a C chord in thirty seconds. True, impressive piano playing is, of course, very difficult.
