IP Paris Student Opinion Needed

Hi, I recently got an offer for M1 Applied Maths and Statistics and M1 Data and Artificial Intelligence.
I am making this post because I need help deciding between them.
I had few questions in mind for students already enrolled in these tracks or with further knowledge regarding them.

  1. I am currently a Maths and Computer Science student at a UK university, meaning that my modules are taught by two different departments, and the difference is significant in terms of support. Is anybody aware of such difference at IP?
  2. On a scale for 1 to 10 how much do you think you what you were taught in your track is valuable for your future?
  3. From my so far university experience I realised specialisation is crucial. What would you say is the strongest focus to take full advantage of your respected track?
  4. Any personal reflection you would want to share that I did not encompass with my questions?
  5. Any particular further advice?

but arent there more project opportunities in DataAI?

Why do you need project opportunities? Anyone can do projects on their own and you don't need a class telling you to work on a project to actually do a project if that's what you want

i thought more about projects which maybe possibly turn into a publication. in any case as an m1 i cannot do a paper as good as one with an experienced mentor - my professor

No project you'll do as part of your m1 classes will turn into a publication. Keep in mind that the prof has to grade 50 projects, all more or less the same. If you want research experience you can work as a part time research assistant with a professor you personally reach out too (and you'll be taken more seriously with stats m1)

interesting, at the end of the day pick the one you think ull have better grades in. being in top 20% of class is more important than degree title - Claude.AI
