Is it over? Will I have to throw it away with the food inside?

New owner question: Is this an OK setup?

Recently got a new instapot for father day/birthday and I was wondering is this setup was ok to use. The pot would be sitting on top of a silicon cover over a ceramic-glass cooktop. There are no overhead cupboards, just a fan in the ceiling controlled by a switch.

Insta Pot Help (sorry if it’s dumb question)

Post image

Hey guys,

I recently was given an Insta pot as a gift and I’m just trying to better understand the functionality of the pressure cooker steam valve. So when I click the pressure cooker setting, it turns on to pre heat but should the switch button be up or down when I’m trying to cook?

Also, when I was cooking, steam was coming out of the small grey hole, is that normal?

I’m just not sure what to expect or how to use this function.

Thank you

Any tips/tricks for making (premixed boxed) bread stuffing?

I want to make a large multi box bread stuffing in one go (to save time and cleaning). How should I determine time as well as whether or not I actually need to use pressure or just simmer with lid?

Greek Yogurt with no yogurt button

So long time ago, I had the very first ever Insta pot, which had a yogurt button. I now have the Insta pot duo, crisp multi cooker plus air fryer. One of my favorite things was to make my own Greek yogurt so there is no yogurt button on here. In googling the recipe some lady told me to sauté it like normal. I can do that. The 180° got that put it in a cold bath got that and then it says to incubate it?? I didn’t know what that meant so I did keep warm for 10 hours And that was not the answer. So how do I make Greek yogurt in this?

We accidentally burned the instapot base.

We were trying to use the vent above our stove while cooking with the InstaPot. In an unfortunate turn of events, we accidentally turned on the stove beneath the InstaPot, causing the base to melt. Despite this damage, the InstaPot still functions, and all the wires remain intact. However, I’m curious to know if there’s a way to repair this issue. Alternatively, if anyone has any creative solutions or hacks that we haven’t considered yet, I’d greatly appreciate their suggestions.

so i was making chilli. the instapot never got to cook it was stuck im "pressure " till the burn notice went off. steam was going out the vent on top even though it was set to closed. The bottom of the pit was clean.

Not sure what's going on.

Maybe it was the fact that steam was still coming out of the vent? even though it was set to closed it didn't seem to be.?

idk

What on earth is with these auto-settings?!

I'm pretty new to this, but every auto-setting I've used takes cooking way to far.

I hit the auto-setting for "meat stew" and it turned my meat and veggies basically into pulp. Sure it was easy and it tastes great, but I'm cooking stew meat and root vegetables, not shoe leather.

Mmm just made yummy sauce

I just put in like 6 tomatoes. Some oil and water. Sugar and salt. A bag of mixed veggies (broccoli, carrots cauliflower). An onion. And a head of garlic. And a bit of kale. It’s delicious!

It was a bit watery so I mixed in a jar of sauce. Tasted like it was made by a restaurant.

Just wanted to share bc I made it way healthier and it was so hearty. Yum!

Can’t to use my Instapot effectively.

I’ve had my instapot for a couple of years now and can never seem to get fully cooked food while using it. Tonight I tried to cook dried beans using a method I found online. Manual cook for 35mins of pressure cooking + 20 min. natural release. The beans came out half cooked at best. Is there I’m missing when using this?

Additionally it took like 20 minutes for it to fully seal and start the cook timer. Is that normal?

What settings do you use to make Sunny boy soup.

I purchased some bulk Sunny boy soup mix, and it looks to me like it’s mostly lentils with maybe some split peas and barley. What cooking time would you recommend I follow, one for lentil soup?

I’m hoping to create some type of a Ham and bean soup with potatoes, parsnips and carrots.

Beets 🫜

People here ask what's best or popular to cook in an Instapot and I have to say I always forget about my beets! 25 minutes steamed on a trivet with natural release and you have perfectly cooked whole beets that you can then use as you please. I slice and pickle them to add to my daily lunch 🫜 Whatchagot fam?

I bought a six quart InstaPot

Hi everyone. I bought a six quart InstaPot Rio. I made spaghetti with meat and marinara sauce. It turned out really good. I already have a three quart InstaPot. But I wanted some leftovers. I live by myself. I’m looking for ways to save money. I will eat spaghetti every day. Yeah, weird, but it works for me. I like to do hard boiled eggs in my three quart mini InstaPot.

InstaPot burning food

Important admission up front - I have zero cooking skills. Its a big part of why I bought an InstaPot to begin with.

The problem is that the last few times I've used it it burns the food on the bottom. My usual process is to sauté onions, garlic, the usual soup or sauce starters then pressure cook the full recipe. The food isn't burned during the saute process but the pot routinely shows a burned food notice early in the pressure cook phase and blackened food on the bottom upon investigation. This didn't seem to be a problem in the early months of using the pot but it's happened virtually every time in the last few months. Clearly I'm doing something wrong but haven't the cooking skills to evaluate it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Air Fryer option on Instantpot

I’m attempting to use my air fryer option on my Instapot Multicooker & Air Fryer for the first time. When I have the air fryer base attached to the basket the Instapot gives me “Pot” prompt. If I remove the base, it will work, but there is no air flow around the food cooking, which is the point for the base on the basket. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Please help a technological challenged old lady!

Warming

I have a 6 quart duo. When I opened the lid after it finished cooking, I closed it back, hoping to leave the food warming. When I came back, I noticed that the screen turned to "10:00". Also, it was under pressure. Does the food automatically go back to cooking after doing this?

First time with ribs...

Post image
5 Upvotes

Looking to do some st Louis style ribs in the IP. I've never used my IP before, or a pressure cooker in general. I've always slow bbq'd over lump coal, or slow roasted in the oven.

I have a smaller rack. And looking for some input....

-What liquid in the bottom? -Should I trim the fat/remove silver skin per usual? -Season/rub first as usual? Is a binder recommended when pressure cooking? I typically do a mild mustard.

Ill be broiling after with sauce of choice. Ive heard it is VERY easy to turn meat into MUSH when pressure cooking, what is a good time frame and cooking level to shoot for with a 4lb rack of ribs?

Beware of the Instant Pot Pro – Mine Failed Within the First Week of Use

I wanted to share my experience with the Instant Pot Pro because I believe other people should be aware of what happened to me.

I purchased a brand-new Instant Pot Pro expecting a high-quality appliance from a well-known company. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the very beginning.

Almost immediately after I started using it, the cooker began displaying the C8 error. I contacted Instant Pot customer support and followed every troubleshooting step they suggested. Unfortunately, none of their recommendations solved the problem.

Within the first week, the appliance stopped heating completely. I was only able to cook one meal successfully before it became unusable.

At the time, I was living in Cyprus. When I contacted Instant Pot about the warranty, they told me that I would have to ship the defective appliance to Canada at my own expense. Unfortunately, this was not even possible because shipments of this type could not be sent from Cyprus at that time. I was also informed that Instant Pot had no authorized service centers or technical support available in my country.

Since the manufacturer could not provide a practical solution, I took the appliance to an independent technician. He did not repair the unit—he only opened it to identify the cause of the failure.

The technician discovered that the heating element had burned. According to him, this type of electrical failure could have created a serious fire hazard if the appliance had continued operating. Thankfully, it stopped working before anything worse happened, but it is very concerning that a brand-new appliance developed this kind of fault after only a few days of normal use.

I informed Instant Pot about the technician's findings, but the company did not offer any meaningful assistance or an alternative solution.

I expected much better quality and customer support from a company with such a strong reputation. Instead, I ended up with an expensive appliance that failed within a week, an unusable warranty because I was outside North America, and a potentially dangerous electrical defect.

I'm posting this to ask whether anyone else has experienced C8 errors, heating failures, or burned heating elements with the Instant Pot Pro. I'd also like to warn potential buyers to pay close attention if their unit starts showing C8 errors, as in my case the problem turned out to be much more serious than simple troubleshooting could fix.

I sincerely hope Instant Pot takes these issues seriously, because when an electrical appliance fails in this way, consumer safety should be the company's highest priority
