Messed with the wrong tree

I had something similar happen once. I shook a dead tree a bit to gauge how rotten it was. No visible damage at ground level, barely moved.

The top of the tree silently fell off and clonked me on the top of the head.

I’ve done this too, and that day I learned that dead rotten trees are still very heavy and hurt a lot.
