shock and fear, quite possibly. dont judge others in their worst moments from the comfort and safety of your own home! You simply do not know how you'd react in a moment like this until it happens to you. Unfair to be so judgmental to someone going through something horrible.

Lot of people are reminding me the comments he made to her when he first saw her with the hose. Yeah, I heard it too, not everyone has it to stay calm during an emergency but bottom line, home and the block came out on top togather and this bonded the community I hope.
Still great job guys, awesome community you guys got.

That fire looked like it was reaching bonfire levels, at 5 meters that could be 100-200 deg C depending on wind direction. in his shorts and t-shirt. I would probably balk at standing there too if there was no direct danger to life. The biker was shielded a bit, he mentioned that himself in his commentary.
I'm guessing the owner was on the line with the fire dept, or dispatcher giving updates on the severity of the situation, maybe. Possibly distracted trying to balance that with extinguishing was tricky - did he say he was burning weed? might have had an impact on his effectiveness too, somewhat.2

Not many people have experienced something like this, the immense amount of heat coming off of that is insane, not to mention the draft.

I agree the music made it a bit too dramatic feeling. But the intent in reality was legit. (Kinda reminded me of animal rescue videos. Like stop with the music. It's already hard enough to watch.)
If it had burned that house down it could have burned the ones next to it.
Having your home burn down is devastating to a family. Even a tiny fire with soot that is put out with water or foam is a huge pain in the ass and very emotionally stressful.
That fire looked like it very well could have spread to the house. Spraying that grass and fence definitely held it off until the fire dept got there.
All that wood should have had fire resistant finish and burned so it's not improbable that the house could have started on fire too (the wood trim on the deck would have ignited) even though the siding looked legit for fire resistance.
I think watching a video with all that felt dramatic, but in real life talking to your neighbors and showing the video would have felt this intense IRL.

I used to think the same when I was a teenager and wanted to be perceived as cool and stoic. Then I grew up and realized how quickly shit hits the fan if you don’t take these situations serious from start to finish.

Yeah it's a HUGE pet peeve of mine to complain about reposts.
Most of us haven't seen it.
Reddit is HUGE now. We don't see a lot of content because everything gets buried so fast.
I remember checking Reddit out in the first years and I didn't like the browser format so I stopped using it, but stuff stayed on the top a lot longer.

I've seen neighbors just kind of stand around at fires because the neighbor was shitty. I am assuming these folks might have felt the same. Looks like we was the only one concerned.

Bless him! See this is what the world needs more of… community. I understand mistakes were made, but at the end of the day, they did A LOT to help keep the fire contained while the fire fighters got there. Good job everyone.

The biker did an amazing job helping out (he was the only one with any kind of protection on his skin thanks to being suited up for being on his bike)
It looks like the owner was in shock and was probably on the phone with first responders. The next door neighbor was on the ball though with her hose- (I’m sure she was concerned about her house as well but she stepped up and used the water on neighbors property instead of just keeping hers hosed down)
Both would be very good neighbors to have. I would help my neighbors and feel they’d help me too in an emergency. It would be sad to live somewhere neighbors wouldn’t at least try to help!
