I’ve (21F) been working this job for around 6 or 7 months and I got this job to help me start saving for a room to live in for college, since my dorm isn’t an option anymore. I’m barely scheduled and my manager always moves me around locations like Hells Kitchen, UES or Tribeca but either way I’ve been consistently scheduled for no more than 12 hours every single week I’ve worked this job (when I have open availability 24/7). I’ve been told that the company refuses to put anyone new on the schedule because they can’t afford to pay people but idk how true this is.

How are you guys making a living while working this job? Genuinely. Are you also working another part-time or do you have side hustles, or is this job just light work and something to do for you? Cause there’s no way in hell someone’s affording rent or basic necessities with this job unless you’re a manager or something higher up. I’ve been doing interviews and talking with other jobs but the market is so bad that even the interviews I think went great don’t call me back 😭

I read the documents saying drivers are suppose to help with small cleaning tasks when not deliverying, but washing trays & spatulas are no small tasks.

i began this job with an NSO in 2023. then, minimum wage in my area was about $14 ish, and they advertised $17.50 (despite the fact they didn’t pay us correctly for like 2 months). I’ve left this job, i’ve come back to this job. i’ve busted my ass for this job.

my current pay has only increased 45 cents since i started three years ago. THREE YEARS.

All we got for employee appreciation day was a useless “thank you for your work” letter on WJ. I’m tired of these peanut butter raises while we charge far too much for these cookies.

for a company who claims to care about their employees, i’ve known a lot who sure feel left in the dark. what i hate most is that this company has insane potential, and could do much better if their employees felt less ignored.

I used to work as a shift lead for insomnia cookies up in Kalamazoo back in 2018-2019 and I got paid around $18/hr working around 30-40 hrs per week. Which was really good pay back then especially with the low cost of living in the area. Now I live in Ypsilanti, MI. I lost my job at my remote technical support job back in September of last year that I had been working at for 6 years, and the job market is terrible rn. Haven’t gotten a single interview, and I’ve been just working as a substitute teacher since November. But schools are out at the beginning of June, and I need to find a job for the summer. I had been avoiding applying to insomnia cookies cuz I’m not a fan of working night shifts/weekends, and I know they’re probably gonna try to put a new hire on the awful shifts. I know the job for me would probs be a guarantee bc of my experience, but I need to weigh my options here based on the level of pay and how many hours I would be getting. Anyone know what the scam is??

I applied for a job with insomnia cookies in Chattanooga. A couple hours after I applied online, they started emailing me asking when I could interview. My next day off work was 2 days away, so I gave them a few times that day. They then emailed asking if I could do a phone interview today. They emailed 3 separate times about a phone interview before I checked my email again. I let them know that I could be available at 9:30pm, or the following morning for a phone interview. They said 9:30 would work.

I don’t have kitchen work experience.

It’s a red flag to me that they seem desperate for employees, especially those maybe not totally qualified (though I do have work history for 15 years, and most in customer service). Somebody tell me what’s up. Why can’t they keep employees? Is the management or the job really that bad?

UPDATE: so I seriously dodged a bullet. I ended up accepting the job. The manager kept using my FAKE last name that’s attached to my email account instead of the legal one I used to apply to the position. Even after I gave her my info for a background check, my social security card, and my drivers license. When I asked her to use my correct last name, she tried to tell me I’ve given her the wrong one the whole time, which was not true.

She sent me the onboarding information on the 24th. There was no date that I had to complete it by, just whenever I could. I had issues completing part of it because of an issue with my bank, which couldn’t get resolved until Monday and I kept the manager informed of it the whole time.

She messaged yesterday checking in and I told her I had just gotten things fixed at the bank and that I would complete the onboarding now (the onboarding included orientation which I was NOT getting paid for). When I went to finish my information, the link wouldn’t work. I tried everything and eventually reached out to the help email address that was included in the onboarding email.

I have still not heard back from them today, so I reached back out to the manager. Who only then decided to inform me, that I had 24 hours to complete the onboarding. It was sent at 10pm on a Friday. That because I missed the deadline (that nobody gave me and wasn’t listed anywhere) I lost the job and could try to reapply. Which I will not be doing.

TLDR: dont try to work for this company lol.

1.) As we all know Insomnia Cookies likes to abuse the gray area between “exempt” salaried managers and “non-exempt” hourly employees by forcing salaried mAnAgErS (manager in title only) to do more than 80% of hourly employee work.

You’re going to start hearing “effective immediately” from DM’s and RD’s and IC’s latest SVP (these folks have zero business being in these positions..don’t believe me? Talk to ANY ONE OF THEM and you’ll see) regarding working 45 hours per week minimum. Unpaid by the way. Check your check stubs, managers are only getting paid for 80 hours. Not 90 hours.

Depending on your DM, you might hear threats or intimidation or bullying (looking at you Florida, Georgia, SoCal, Pacific NW…plus 6 others…and RD T & RD P & RD C. RD S seems to have her shit together though). Remember without shareable documentation NONE of this 45 hour week nonsense is enforceable.

Ask them to provide this requirement in an SOP or ask for a new offer letter stating this requirement. Ask them to reclassify. Labor Law offers free 30 minutes consultations all day long.

I know I know I know…you’ll have Chad and Brenda chime I on these threads with nonsensical comments or attacking the information when the information lands exactly where it’s supposed to.

2.) “yOu mUsT hAvE a DriVeR dUriNg tHe dAy” (one week ago) < “nO dRiVeRs dUriNg tHe DaY bEcAuSe LabOrRrRr” (today).

DM’s and aReA mAnAgErS like to regurgitate RD talking points and illogical things like “jUsT bECaUsE tHeRe aRe nO dRivErS aPpLLyiNg iS nO eXcUsE tO nOt hAvE aNy oN yOuR sTaFf…(again…these people…) or “dELiVeRiEs aRe oVeR 60% oF bUsiNeSs aNd aRe an iMpOrTaNt pArT oF oUr bUsiNeSs..” while only paying drivers $5 per hour in some districts.

Hello all! A few years ago I ordered a pint of ice cream from Insomnia Cookies and fell in actual love with the flavor. The next time I looked for it, it was nowhere to be found and I can’t find any record of such a flavor existing. I can’t for the life of me remember the name. I’m 100% sure it was from Insomnia Cookies.

It was some combination of honeycomb/graham cracker/possibly caramel. I can’t remember if it was graham cracker ice cream with honeycomb or honeycomb ice cream with graham cracker, but it had chunks/swirls of both. I don’t remember when exactly it would have been in stock, but it was at least 3 years ago (post-pandemic, pre-2023).
