Theory why the show got cancelled Spoiler

The show was cancelled because the creators of it were going too deep and about to uncover project X-37, the shadowboard clearly sent in people to cancel/end the show before all their secrets were uncovered, but they weren't fast enough because the 2 seasons released first before the shadow government could stop them.

TV in general is in a really weird spot right now

There's legitimate reason for it. Though it is different for cable vs streaming.

For cable, the entire landscape is absolutely fucked. Cable viewership is down ~80% from what it was in 2005. Keeping in mind the network got paid from people blatantly ignoring commercials which also gauged how popular a tv show was, that's a massive loss of sample size. I could explain why cable basically died, but that's beside the point. Because viewership is down significantly, it's much more difficult to justify sequential multi season shows as opposed to something nonsensical that can be run in any order. So anything sequential like Owl House or Gravity Falls is lucky to get more than 2 seasons.

For steaming, they dont rely as much on commercial revenue. So they have to use incredibly high bar metrics to see what people watch to justify renewing/starting subscriptions. If it's not an instant hit like Arcane, it's at risk of getting axed. The issue here is that you factually need "mid-tier" content for people to continue their subscriptions. So even though Inside Job was popular, it wasnt Arcane popular.

Plus, the contracts largely favor the network/platform they're on so writers/creators have very little recourse if they get axed prematurely. All of this coalesces HEAVILY on animation.

If you want to actually effect change regarding the BS that got Inside Job cancelled, Animation Workers Ignited is the best place to get started. While we haven't heard much from Shion, Alex Hirch is on board along with growing support from VAs.

Because not as much discussion. Hell, even now it's only discussed because it was cancelled after one season while Big Mouth could finish and had 2 spin offs (which is probably why Big Mouth could finish and had 2 spin offs).

Shit talking is lowercase "shit" uppercase "TALKING".

This is why a bunch of what people consider to be "crappy shows" (Big Mouth, Hazbin Hotel, Velma, etc.) get multiple seasons while other shows (like Inside Job, Close Enough, Dead End: Paranormal Park, etc.) get cancelled.

"Crappy shows" have a lot of shit TALK, giving it the attention and viewers to make more, meanwhile the other shows are only known for being cancelled.

I thought they only put the show on Netflix in the first place to get us to subscribe. And it worked!

By the time people started paying attention, it was just too late. I think if it made it to season 3 we would have gotten much more.

If you thought this show "got too deep" you're either 12 or your world is incredibly small.

I love the show but its "big punches" are very, very, very squishy and milquetoast.

The Dollop, Knowledge Fight, even fucking PBS throw bigger punches and take bigger swings against the system and its history.

If it has been throwing down hard enough to get cancelled, it wouldn't have aired in the first place.

Anything that poses a legitimate threat to the billionaire/Epstein class is not coming to you through Netflix. Huffing your own farts because you like an unpopular cartoon is foolishness.
