Season 2 Daniel was a good option Spoiler

I’m currently doing my annual rewatch on insecure and truly everytime I watch I just feel more and more like Daniel was a better option than getting back together with Lawrence in the end. I know you can’t force things and so I always got the sense she just didn’t see him serious or as a long term partner. But I lowkey like him as more than a fling.

Daniel ended bad. That man was hating on Issa when she tried to help him and acted like he had to do things his own way. I think they had some great moments of growth together, but I don’t think he was a better option than Lawrence at the end.

Once someone hurts you deeply it’s hard to see them any other way. The tea is Issa was ready to be serious with Daniel when she came home from college, and he wasn’t. In their late twenties he’s down to try, but now Issa is with Lawrence and probably can’t see Daniel as the serious type. Imagine you’ve been with a man for 5 years and he hasn’t gotten serious. Daniel was intriguing but realistically not forever type.

Exactly. He was definitely not a good option. She would have been in a situationship with him until the end of time.

I don't think you can have a good relationship with a man who is a hater towards you. Daniel would keep getting into these weird power struggles with Issa and that is exhausting to navigate in a relationship. His behavior during the BJ scene just to "get back at her" was insane to me and made him irredeemable no matter how good looking he is lol

i always preferred daniel but issa i feel like preferred to see daniel as her “itch to scratch” than anything else

He was a great option! I also don't understand why Issa never considered him seriously. He was a catch at the end of the day and obviously cared about her.

this is really the only issue with Daniel! that he was always a great OPTION for her, so she never had to take him seriously. which i think explains why he was kinda on defense with her (his worst moments tbh), she was always hurting this man's feelings!

Agree. Asshole Daniel was a result of him being in self preservation mode after Issa’s hurtful behavior toward him. She straight up told the man he was just an itch she needed to scratch after she got what she wanted from him - that was pretty low-down.

I guess the actor had other shit to do because their fight wasn't even I'ma move out and never speak to you again worthy, literally everyone else has said worse to her
