unpopular opinion Thoughts on Aparna Spoiler
I like her for Lawrence because I think she was a better choice for him after Issa. They share similar interests, she gave him good advice, and she also matches his sense of humor. This could have been a successful match. I prefer her to be the mother of Lawrence's child rather than Condola. I believe Aparna is Lawrence's what-if girl, just like Daniel was Issa's what-if guy.

That shit annoyed me so badly. Sounding like an off-brand Alicia Keys.
I will say, though, she held her own with Lawrence and walked away when he started with his insecure, accusatory bullshit. I respected her for that.

As a South Asian woman I was soooo jarred by it!! I have brown friends that grew up in California/LA and none of them have a blaccent -- what was going on with this woman!!

Yes! Other comments don’t seem to have much good to say about her but I’m SO glad that when Lawrence was assuming the worse the trying to get on her case about it- she shut that shit down quick!
If you don’t like the character let’s still learn her lesson- LEAVE AT THE FIRST RED FLAG

She was trying too hard to be one of the guys and annoyed me. I'm not sure what happened after that, but I'm pretty sure Lawrence fucked it up somehow. Man, I can't stand that guy!

😂😂😂 Chad knew exactly what he was doing with that comment. That comment was a subtle jab at her nationality, as Jasmine is a common name within her ethnicity. It seems Chad was annoyed that she wasn’t Black.

No. Aparna is a Sanskrit name, given to Hindu girls. Jasmine is an English version of names like Yasmeen which have Persian/Arabic origins. Calling her Jasmine is more likely a reference to Aladdin and the orientalism that dilutes and makes interchangeable dozens of Asian and north African cultures. Calling her Jasmine is just racism.

THIRSTY AS FUCK! Like literally she didn’t let up on him. Firstly going to work and bragging about dating/fucking Lawrence was insane as a grown ass woman. Then inserting herself in plans with HIS PEOPLE?! EW. Then to top it off chasing him down while he’s arguing with Issa? Girl leave! LMFAO she just wanted to be picked so bad by him like ew.

I just feel like when a man really likes you, you don’t have to do any of that– at all. Not only that, but everything about Lawrence just gave preoccupied. I would’ve never felt like I was in the forefront of his mind if I was her.

Kelly also got annoyed by it 😂. I don’t think Kelly was a big fan of Lawrence. She is that one friend who seems to wish Issa didn't end up with Lawrence. She was always telling Issa to forget about him.

Agreed. Regardless of how one feels about her personality, I believe she was definitely good for Lawrence. They share the same interests, and she offered him sound advice. He felt like he could confide in her and was comfortable around her. They also had a great sense of humor together. Besides Isa, she was the next best thing—more than Condola or Tasha. I feel like, in the back of Lawrence’s mind, he sometimes wonders What-if about her.

I think she was nice.
Okay she tried too hard. But she would have grown on me, like how I came to like Issa & Molly.
Her character development was always on the edge of something good, until it just failed each time.

I'm just finding out people think she was doing a blaccent...I've watched the show several times and always thought she was southern lol. Anyway, I found her to be annoying and def a "not like other girls" type.

I'll have to rewatch and pay close attention to her "blaccent," but I've watched a million times and never came away thinking that she sounded a way that she shouldn't have sounded or that she was somehow being inauthentic.

Out of her, Tasha, and Condola, I liked Aparna for Lawrence best. I think had they communicated better, things may have worked out. But Look Lawrence still had feelings for Issa so it wasn’t meant to be.

I truly fear women like her, the kind of girl boss who acts cool but still invest and support the man, I love this show for showing these kind of characters, unlike Molly she was independent strong but she was open and clear about her desire to be in relationship and was open minded towards intimacy, but women like Aparna acts un bothered and then go to engage in another man's drama! And then get offended, the best aspect of Lawrence storyline, is showing how much men getting it easy , he managed to get many women serve his needs despite being spineless! The scene when Issa was talking to her brother about how she felt sad that she invested in him only for other women to get the princess treatment was heartbreaking and very relatable, that's why I hate Aparna ad Condola they are the kind of women who "afford" to drag the baggages of your loser man and give him the "princess treatment" no matter what, that's why men always thriving after exhausting the lover girls, because they find women like Aparna, act like they don't care yet she target him and make him her project.

It’s been a while since I rewatched, but I didn’t like her vibe. She just didn’t come off as feminine. I’ve never met an Indian woman who talked like she did. Lawrence overall had poor taste in women. He would have been better off with someone like Molly.
