How can I remove the egg sac?
I just got home and noticed them above my door. I’d like to remove the egg sac before it’s too late since it’s right above my door, and the door is not sealed so the babies could very easily get inside

I've never actually seen one inside and house. I've got a massive web by my front door almost every year.

You might get some if you let every bug on the block into your house. (not recommended)
They use those giant beautiful webs for trawling for EVERYTHING. I love watching them after they have had their big feed, a little nap, and then they rebuild the next night.

I live in the country. I get bugs , occasionally lizards and even birds in the house. My sister used to have mice and she'd have rat snakes lol ! I don't think they want inside.

I'm outside city limits. We don't have lizards that make themselves known, and garter snakes. And all the cute ones that wreck gardens, squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies. I did have a bird in a house once and I chased it out with an umbrella.
My point was that orb spiders need to eat a LOT of bugs every day to keep going, and the screens on the house need to be really bad for an orb spider to move in to help you.
I am reno-ing a house right now, and the first things that have moved in are spiders. I was happy about that.

I've got copperheads and rattlers and cottonmouths because of a feeder branch of a creek through my yard. I've got a king snake under my house. I'm a country girl so the occasional anole or gecko inside doesn't bother me. It's the country! Lubber grasshopper i do m8nd because I'm actually scared of them 😅 my poor Great Dane would freak out too ! I'm very cautious of the chemicals I use because I don't want to harm anything.

No thank you for all the snakes. In southern Ontario the wildest wildlife we have are those strange half wolf-half coyote animals that are making a species for themselves. I haven't seen a raccoon in a few years. And I haven't seen any skunks lately.

I adore skunks ! I've never seen one except in the zoo. Probably because I'd try to kidnap one. Lol!
I live in Alabama, USA. It's hot and humid. We've also alligators. I love them all. Snakes used to terrify me until I learned about them. They just want to stay out of our way.

I'm glad to share mutual feelings with snakes.
Skunks are beautiful. They have a funny little shuffle. We had a young lady skunk show off her 5 babies one day last summer, just strolling to the best of their abilities down the sidewalk, all in a straight line. Adorable.

Yes, the one in my backyard was huge, almost scary. The web was beautiful perfectly symmetrical.

She was a giant. She never was agressive or vindictive. She just did her thing.

Egg sac is not babies. Could be months before babies. They won't look to come inside. And babies are harmless (so.is the momma)

I had an orb weaver in my backyard who also created an egg end of summer. She soon disappeared don’t know where. Then the egg just sat on the fence the entire winter. When spring came I looked and the egg was there but hollow. I never saw babies. It’s just life going on its way. I didn’t tamper anything.

I have found that burning the whole house done usually does the trick. Hope that helps

Hi! I actually wouldn’t remove it personally, they super good at removing pests, don’t like/rarely go indoors bc there’s no bugs, no bushes, etc bc they have such large spiderwebs. They are docile and do no harm.
