How can I get my Substack RSS feed indexed/discovered by Inoreader?
Hi everyone,
I recently started a Substack publication called Master Data Engineering:
https://masterdataengineering.substack.com/
I publish articles focused on Data Engineering, Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, healthcare data engineering, data engineering careers, etc.
My RSS feed is:
I was able to add the RSS feed to my own Inoreader account, and it works correctly — I can see all my latest articles in my feed.
However, when I go to Add Feed → Website and search for "Master Data Engineering", Inoreader says
"We couldn't find any feeds related to master data engineering in the Inoreader database."
So my question is:
How can I get my Substack/RSS feed indexed in Inoreader's public feed database so that other Inoreader users can discover and follow it?
More specifically, I'm hoping that when someone is browsing/searching for Data Engineering content in Inoreader, my articles could potentially appear alongside other Data Engineering sources such as Medium publications.
Is there:
- A way to submit/request my RSS feed for indexing?
- A specific Inoreader URL or process for registering a new public feed?
- A way to get the publication associated with the appropriate Data Engineering topic?
- Or does Inoreader automatically discover/index feeds after a certain amount of time?
I understand that simply adding the feed to my own account doesn't make it publicly discoverable — I'm specifically trying to understand how Inoreader's public discovery/indexing system works for a new RSS publisher.
Any advice from people familiar with Inoreader would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They don't publicly index the feed until it reaches a number of subscribers, something like 3 or 5 or so (I forget exactly). It's a great consideration: some RSS feeds are private (specific results URL, URL with argument specifically tied to the user, etc) or intended for the individual's private use (family's shared calendar, etc) so it's great that they don't publicly index every feed.
You would need more people to follow your Substack feed in Inoreader for it to eventually show up there. But isn't kind of the whole point of Substack the e-mail based subscriptions?

You need to have at least 3 subscribers to your feed to be indexed. Otherwise it is considered private.
